At WikiProject Cornwall we subscribe to the policies laid down by Wikipedia - particularly civility and consensus building. We are aware that the wording on Cornish entries can sometimes be a contentious topic, especially those concerning geography. You don't have to agree with everything but there is no excuse for rudeness and these things are best solved through consensus building and compromise. For more information see WP:CornwallGuideline.
These pages are not platforms for political discussion. Issues relating to Cornish politics should be restricted to those pages that directly deal with these issues (such as Constitutional status of Cornwall, Cornish nationalism, etc) and should not overflow into other articles.

A fact from Goeznovius appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 17 December 2007, and was viewed approximately 2,419 times (disclaimer) (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
I edited that part of the article.
a) there was no bishop of Quimper before 1790 as the bishopric was called Cornouaille then

Cornouaille is not Cornwall in England, but a place in Brittany that is apparently the same as Quimper and Leon. Adam Bishop (talk) 03:50, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, not really... Cornouaille, which is the same word as Cornwall, both areas being termed as "Kernev" in Breton and Cornish, designates specifically an area to the SOUTH western part of Brittany, and indeed had Quimper as its capital city, whereas the Northern part belonged to Léon. Two completely different bishoprics before the French revolution... Given the time at which St Goueznou lived, the difference is significant. If you will humor me and consult the French wiki lists of bishops for [[1]] and [[2]], you will notice that Goueznou appears on the latter (7th from the top), but definitely not on the former. Distinction between the various bishoprics in Brittany is culturally significant enough that their numbers, respectively for lower and upper Brittany have served to determine the number of white and black stripes on the Flag of Brittany. --Svartalf (talk) 06:08, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
