Legal[edit]

In the EU, is regulated by the directive 2005/29/EC, maybe someone with spare time could add it. [1] PDF Zaka (talk) 11:50, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Volkswagen TDI can't even...[edit]

I would wait to cite a third party source to specifically use the word "greenwashing" to describe VW's cheating on emissions controls in the Volkswagen#Defeat_device_scandal, but I think it has to be counted as an egregious example. Consumers chose VW diesels because they thought they could have a green car that was fun too, but were in fact deceived. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 03:53, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

Opposition[edit]

Shouldn't we mention effective environmentalism as an emerging environmentalist branch that goes in against greenwashing ? The term is rather new, but some seem to have been coining it to describe oneself.[1][2][3] Also, it seems to be similar to the path the well known "ecomodernist movement" is following. KVDP (talk) 06:41, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

There's a term being coined these days for the opposite as well: ecorexia. Basically, ecorexia is said to be a mental disorder which drives people to act so environmentally that it becomes a nuisance to them and their family, while not offering much environmental benefit at all. Examples are taking short or even cold showers, being a (very) strict veganist, ...[4][5][6][7]

Citation[edit]

I feel that the passage: While greenwashing is not new, its use has increased over recent years to meet consumer demand for environmentally goods and services, could use a citation. SamiNickel003 (talk) 18:00, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

@SamiNickel003 An excerpt from wp:Citation_needed "If a statement sounds plausible, and is consistent with other statements in the article, but you doubt that it is totally accurate, then consider making a reasonable effort to find a reference yourself." I didn't quite get the feeling you referred to, but do you doubt that the statement is accurate, or does it seem obvious wp:You don't need to cite that the sky is blue? You could have saved me some time with a statement as to why you are asking other editors to make edits for you, welcome to Wikipedia. Dougmcdonell (talk) 08:01, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

Citation[edit]

"In addition, the political term "linguistic detoxification" describes when, through legislation or other government action, the definitions of toxicity for certain substances are changed, or the name of the substance is changed, so that fewer things fall under a particular classification as toxic." I think this is an important passage but it would be helpful to add a citation. SamiNickel003 (talk) 18:02, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Term Needs Definition[edit]

I think that although an example was given to explain the term "free credits" it would help readers if a precise definition was given as well. SamiNickel003 (talk) 18:05, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Reorganizing the Article Layout[edit]

I think that if possible it would be beneficial to combine the usage and history section to help the overall flow of the article. You can give the usage examples in a time line format included in the history. SamiNickel003 (talk) 18:07, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Add More Detail[edit]

I think it would help readers confidence if we added who did the study in the passage: "In 2010 a study was done showing that 4.5% of products tested …" SamiNickel003 (talk) 18:10, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
