Bulgaroctonus here. Dr. Gregory Olsen spoke at my high school (Hopewell Valley Central High School, Pennington, New Jersey 4/26/2006) and he gave the price of his space excursion as about $20 million dollars. The Wikipedia article says that Olsen has not disclosed how much he spent. I have amended this and included his estimate of 20 million USD.

Photon Man here - I don't have all the details but someone might want to add that he built Sensors Unlimited from scratch, then sold it to JDSU. When the telecom crash occurred, JDSU soled it back to him at about 10 cents ont he dollar. Shortly after, he sold it to Goodrich Aerospace.
