I've run into several ways of identifying the various habitats in the dunes. The primary source and more recent is the Ecosystems of the Indiana Coastal Region; Indiana Lake Michigan Coastal Program, Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. And older version of habitats is found in the Proceedings of the Indiana Academy of Science, 1921, Mammals of Porter County by Marcus W Lyon, Jr; Wm B. Burford Pub; Indianapolis, Indiana, 1922. I have based the article design around the first reference as it is more inclusive of habitats along the fringe of the dunes.(Chris Light (talk) 14:52, 10 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]
