Untitled[edit]

I'd say that if one puts Greenberg, Fried, Krauss and Foster into the same 'lineage,' it is also necessary to mention the serious disagreements between them - or at least, in this case, between Foster and the others. Also, I don't believe that Habermas, Frampton, Baudrillard, et al., can all be accurately described as being 'pro-resistance' and 'anti-reaction' on the topic of postmodernism, even with the qualifier 'disparate' -- that is just Foster's formulation. For instance, I would say Habermas would be simply pro-modern, anti-postmodern. Blima3000 12:21, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The current article, in my view, somewhat overstates the centrality of postmodernism as a concept for Foster. I would propose editing it to give a bit of a longer list of the different concepts that he uses - which I also volunteer myself to do, shortly... Blima3000 13:35, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Reassessment[edit]

Thanks for working on this article. I think this article could do with more substantive content on Foster's life, if possible, and the flow should be improved ("Foster had come to believe that the dialectic within the avant-garde between historical engagement and contemporary critique had broken down" - that, for example, sounds vague and can be reformulated with plain encyclopedic language). Embarrassing[edit]

In Art Since 1900 (1942b), Foster twice states that France fell to the Nazis in 1939, something which began in May 1940, revealing an embarrassingly weak grasp of history. Tsinfandel (talk) 11:58, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bibliography[edit]

Have commenced tidy-up of the Bibliography section using cite templates and tables for short stories, poems and/or book reviews. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it; feel free to continue. Sunwin1960 (talk) 06:37, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
