[edit]This page seems to be hardly more than an ad for Hal Leonard Co, especially the "Where to buy" section. I suggest you stubify this article. Frosty 01:19, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
I would agree that they page needs some heavy editing. I own and use many of Hal Leonard Easy Play books. They are very popular in our organ club . Perhaps the article should be rewritten to make it more informative and useful and more enccyclopedic. --Phil talk 15:29, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
This page has many identical phrases that appear on Hal Leonards Website. Phil talk 17:23, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
I blanked the 'Sales' and 'Where to Buy' sections. The rest of the article needs help, though. ObtuseAngle 15:02, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
This whole thing has to go. It's all lifted directly from either the Hal Leonard website or SEC filings. Word for word, as far as I can tell (though I just sampled four or five sentences.) What do we do with things like this? Delete it and start over? --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 03:58, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

This article once again reads like an advertisement/PR release. A stub would probably be better than this stuff. Thinking of reverting to this version. Thoughts, anyone? RandyKaelber (talk) 02:06, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Copyright violation
[edit]Most of the page is a word-for-word copyright violation of: http://www.halleonard.com/about_main.jsp, as edited by user... HalLeonard. I reworked page to avoid copyright violation.
HalLeonard, you need to read WP:CONFLICT. The comments above give you a good idea some of the article's deficiencies as a Wikipedia encyclopedia entry. Regards, Piano non troppo (talk) 22:34, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Potential sources
[edit]A potential source, but I could not figure out how to bring the content to encyclopedic format.
- Library acquisition of music By Robert Michael Fling, Peter Alan Munstedt
This looks promising, but has only snippet view on line
- The Relationship of School Band Educators, the Music Publishing Industry ... By Jeffery David http://books.google.com/books?id=YYlpAAAAMAAJ&q=%22music+industry%22+%22Hal+Leonard%22&dq=%22music+industry%22+%22Hal+Leonard%22&lr=&num=30&as_brr=0&as_pt=ALLTYPES&pgis=1
Biographical Information
[edit]This article would be more interesting if it said something about the founders who were musicians..the links redirect to a town where they have an office...someone cleaned it up enough that it doesn`t really read like an advertisement...although the original version linked above is actually more informative and a better read it was obviously written by someone connected to the company as the editors name was Hal Leonard..the links associated with the founders should at least be fixed. I doubt it’s a monopoly.
[edit]The statement that HL is a monopoly is a bit comical. I suggest a citation for such an assertion. Meanwhile, there are currently 83 entries at this page. And HL has a monopoly over it all? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Sheet_music_publishing_companies — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.102.233.130 (talk) 14:53, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
