black lives matter protest ?
[edit]Is the beheading related to black lives matter ? --AliceBzh (talk) 19:22, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, it happened during a protest against the arrest of BLM activist Yeshua Musa. Camipco (talk) 02:29, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Was the removal of the statue done because of Heg's actions in the past? Did he own slaves at any time? Someone Not Awful (talk) 11:16, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- No, the removal had no connection to Heg as a historical figure. Doremo (talk) 11:45, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- There is a recent article that does mention the Heg statue as being a symbol of racism. [1]
- That is an opinion piece more than an article. If we are going to include opinion pieces as part of this conversation, local, national, and international news sources have shown broad consensus in condemning the statue's removal. At a minimum, most articles call for public debates, proper historical context, and due process before removing a statue. Schlomoe99 (talk) 19:07, 27 June 2020 (UTC) [2] [3] [4] [5]

Help!
[edit]I added a citation but apparently I didn't format it correctly. I tried correcting it but I still get an 'error' message. Can someone more knowledgeable than me correct it. Thanks. American In Brazil (talk) 21:29, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- @American In Brazil: I've fixed the reference. The tag was not closed properly. -Thucydides411 (talk) 09:17, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
