Latvia-centric

Hansabank Group might operate in Latvia, but it was, until 2005, an Estonian-owned and run financial group - Anatoly Blik (whoever he is) is merely some random guy whose bank was merged into the Hansabank Group. It's now owned by the Swedbank group, who have terminated the Hansabank brand at least in Russia - in the Baltics the brand seems to be strong enough that so far it hasn't been named Swedbank (also, the "Swed" part of the name might not go over too well with private commercial bank customers outside Sweden). Also, I don't see how this article is legitimately a part of WikiProject Latvia - some Swedish-owned conglomerate operating in the Baltic market is not a Baltic topic anymore than McDonalds restaurants in Riga or Tallinn are parts of Estonian or Latvian WikiProjects. Rename or merge

So, I hear they've changed name to Swedbank, which probably means that article should be renamed too. There allready is Swedbank so should this be renamed to e.g. Swedbank (Baltic States) or merged whith Swedbank ~~Xil (talk) 19:34, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

I guess each country has its own local company or filial so an article for each country is possible. I have written one about the Ukrainian company (Swedbank (Ukraine)) so why not Swedbank (Latvia) etc? Närking (talk) 19:44, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Then we will have to split this in several articles, but it seems relatively good in its current state. Swedbank (Baltic States) seems the best option to preserve current state ~~Xil (talk) 16:22, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

It's possible too of course. But if you look at the other Swedish bank operating in the Baltics, SEB, there are different articles for each country (SEB Eesti Ühispank, SEB Unibanka and SEB Vilniaus bankas). But then there I guess it has a different history and without the rather well-known brand Hansabank. Närking (talk) 17:39, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

As its quite a short article as it is, it's better to keep this article as a historical one about the Hansabank brand. If more can be written about Swedbank operations in the different Baltic states then we could start separate articles then but for now I really don't see the need. This article has some major flaws considering the Hansabank brand is gone, yet the article seems to suggest that Hansabank is an operating bank.
