I don't see the need to add this to the external link section, however also don't see anything that really speaks against it. We do have WP:ELOFFICIAL suggesting it's acceptable to include an external link to a subject's website. Based on this I added the link as {{official website}}. Nobel Prize and IPPNW

The IPPNW received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985. I assume that this means all members of the organization at the time can claim to have received it. However, the source cited doesn't mention Dr. Abraham by name, and (unless I've overlooked something) we don't even have a source that says he was in IPPNW at the time. The claim should be removed from the article until it can be supported by sources (and even then, there are WP:SYNTH concerns if we have "he was in IPPNW" and "IPPNW received the Nobel Prize" separately). There was a C-Span ref that was deleted by another editor that made the claim. I am just going to paste the now deleted section here to discuss the problems.

The edit that deleted the C-Span ref "Fails to verify what it claims " as a reason for removing a cited source (C-Span) is something I have not heard of. Since when do refs have to verify what is claimed? [1]

As best as I can understand, the organization won the Prize, not the individual members. The only people mentioned by name in that second ref were co-founders Bernhard Lown and Evgeny Chazov. David notMD (talk) 13:33, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

That is my understanding too but as this is a BLP article and we also have COI requests by the subject and the article is a little messy-looking I am trying to make some improvements. As a reader the subject and the subject's affiliations are pretty interesting to me so I am trying again to make some improvements here but running into some issues?TeeVeeed (talk) 13:39, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

At Teahouse, Abraham has mentioned that there are references identifying him as centrally active in the founding of the organization, if not officially named as a "co-founder." Those are the types of references needed to support mention. David notMD (talk) 13:41, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

I would like to raise an issue with the reliability of that source. C-SPAN seems to be a reliable news network, but the web page that lists his Nobel status seems to just be an archive of people who have made appearances on the news network. He has appeared on C-SPAN one time, and his Nobel status was not mentioned in the newscast, and in fact it wasn't relevant to the IPPNW org at all.

That said, as a newer editor I'm not entirely familiar with how to scrutinize the reliability of a source, and I'm not sure how much digging into the source chain is appropriate. This just seems odd to me since the bio given on the C-SPAN website is unlike the one given in the newscast. WPscatter ^t/_c 18:15, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

Thank you. Well it is related because the Noble Peace Prize was given to the International group with Abraham being involved as part of that group. The ref from C-Span was a video but also there is text on the right hand side with the material. But you are correct in wanting to see more evidence available and so far every fact seems to add-up even-if my sources do seem a little lazy there.TeeVeeed (talk) 21:52, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

Article improvements

So after having everything that I added to the article deleted- out of caution adding some notes here for future improvements to the article and trying to rm the template at the top of article page? Trying to find a way to tie this in--> Physicians for Social Responsibility. As a BLP article with a COI editor as the subject here on the TP, is beneficial imo. Wow, what a process. The general theme seems to be that more verification is needed, and Wiki consulting a website is not the way to go. Let me offer the citations I know about.
