Galloway

[edit]

a) This is an article about Armstrong, not Galloway. If people want to read about Galloway's appearance on BB they can go to the article specifically about it - no point in repeating it here. b) The issue of expenses are completely different from an MPs salary - many expenses can only be claimed if an MP is doing something (eg. hiring constituency staff, communications, travelling) whereas they can get their wage even if they only turned up once a year. Implying Armstrong's hypocrisy over complaining about Galloway claiming salary while in BB because of her expense claims as an MP is a case of comparing apples and pears and looks like an attempt to make a political point. Armstrong's expenses claims in comparison to other MPs in general, or in the North East could be encyclopedic, comparing her solely to Galloway is not.

  • This is an article on Hilary Armstrong, therefore what she said (which was covered nationally) is valid. The salary part can stay out, but her accusations, right or wrong, should be covered.

Name of school

[edit]

I removed "(her Who's Who entry lists Monkwearmouth School but Sunderland secondary schools were selective until the early 1970s)" because it sounds like pedantry. If the Who's Who entry is misleading (because the name actually suggests a different school from the one she attended) this needs a citation. If the Who's Who entry gives an anachronistic or incorrectly abbreviated name for the school, and if that really matters, it also wants a citation. If neither, what use is the parenthesis at all? Hilary Armstrong, Baroness Armstrong of Hill TopHilary Armstrong — Her name is still Hilary Armstrong and that is what she is most commonly known as. The name change is a confusing addition and is againt the MOS. This needs to be undone by an administrater. Lucy-marie (talk) 14:10, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Admin needed as the move cannot be simply "undone"--Lucy-marie (talk) 21:19, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Undiscussed move

[edit]

I have just reverted an undiscussed move from 2014 which was clearly against the consensus on this talk page. I am happy to have another RM if editors feel that the article should move.CalzGuy (talk) 13:16, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
