The History section appears to have been lifted verbatim from the Holloman AFB history page. Since it's a US-gov't document, I assume it's OK to post here—but, does anyone have a definitive answer? --Milkmandan 18:03, 2005 Feb 3 (UTC)

It was and I used it as a start point to expand it with more detail I added the Holloman AFB page as a reference along with other sources I used to expand the article.

This article needs to be re-rated. No longer a start class.

According to this website, http://www.santafenewmexican.com/SantaFeNorthernNM/Scientists_shatter_world_land_speed_record_at_Holloman The world land speed record has been beaten again, (~6500 mph) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.246.255.29 (talk) 20:26, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:wikify

[edit]

It looks pretty wikified to me, is there a reason the BP is on here? -- EmperorBMA|話す 13:02, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Reassessing: still Start class

[edit]

This article contains much useful information and seems reliable, but the information is largely unsourced, so I am leaving the assessment at Start class. --Uncia (talk) 14:24, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

UFO incidents

[edit]

There are alleged UFO incidents involving Holloman AFB from both 1964 or 1971. There are YouTube videos alleging this and I'm sure there must be other sources around, yet this article makes no mention of any such. __meco (talk) 17:52, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I also agree there should be mention about a major claim that a meeting took place between extra terrestrials and President Eisenhower at this location. These claims have been put forward for many years now, and are widespread culturally (if not without substantial evidence). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.12.252.112 (talk) 06:52, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MQ-1 Predator / MQ-9 Reaper

[edit]

It has been released in the news outlets that Holloman AFB now has and is flying MQ-1 Predators and MQ-9 Reapers this would make a good addition to the HAFB page.

Yes - I was looking for information on the predator here, and did not find it. Holloman is the primary drone training base, I thought, since they flew drones here since the days when drones were modified aircraft used for target practice. ( Martin | talkcontribs 18:09, 4 April 2014 (UTC))[reply]

F-22 Raptor leaves Holloman.

[edit]

The entire F-22 Raptor fleet has left the base and has been replaced by 2 F-16 Fighting Falcon fleets. Watch this video in the link. It will tell you everything.

Correction under German Air Force Flying Training Center

[edit]

I have edited the paragraph under, German Air Force Flying Training Center, about the September 1999 crash of two German AFB Luftwaffe Tornados. I have a unique insight, since I was the first on scene with the crash investigation team. One> The crash was NOT "kept quiet from the American public". I made contact with all media that came arrived on scene the morning after the crash. There are several articles from papers and networks, all over the U.S. and Germany, the day after the crash. Two> The German AFB was not given jurisdiction over the crash investigation. The primary on the investigation, was Holloman AFB Wing Safety and the German AFB Safety team assisted. The German inspectors did not arrive, until the initial securing and preliminary investigation had already begun. — Preceding unsigned comment added by XanderCain (talkcontribs) 16:42, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Data omission; units assigned to the 49th TFW.

[edit]

The 417th Tactical Fighter Squadron was also assigned to the 49th TFW from 1970 to 1977 (per the squadron's Wikipedia article), flying F-4s during that time. It seems that it arrived at Holloman AFB separately from the 7th, 8th, and 9th squadrons. The squadron participated in the TDYs to West Germany, and also to Takhli in May 1972. Its nickname was "The Red Dorques", back to the time it had been stationed in France. Its hangar was at the east end of the flightline. The wing commander at that time was initially Brigadier General Jack Bellamy. Please see this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/417th_Weapons_Squadron.
