Justin Fashanu / "Thomas Hitzlsperger[edit]

The article appears to claim that both Justin Fashanu AND Thomas Hitzlsperger were the first openly gay players to play in the English Premier League. Could someone please clarify the situation. Cheers, Obscurasky (talk) 00:00, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does it say Fashanu played in the Premier League? I think his glory days were over by the time that came into being in 1992. William Avery (talk) 00:34, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
it says Fashnau was the "first footballer to be openly gay" and Hitzlsperger was the "first openly gay player to have played in the English Premier League".
At the very least, the terminology is vague. Are you able to word it better so that the situation is clear? Cheers, Obscurasky (talk) 01:01, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It also says "Robbie Rogers became the second male footballer baased in Britain to come out". Quite honestly, who was second seems a little trivial, but if the order of their coming out is going to be mentioned at all, it should be clear.Obscurasky (talk) 01:09, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Other Countries?[edit]

If this article is supposed to be specifically about England, why is homophobia in other countries discussed without specifically being referenced to England? Some parts seem better suited to either the general article, or articles about Homosexuality and the sport in those specific countries.--FamAD123 (talk) 19:34, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
