Proposed draft

[edit]

My name is Prerna Gupta. I am the CEO of Telepathic Inc., which created the Hooked App. I wanted to share a draft expanded, updated, and better-sourced version of this page here in hopes that independent, impartial editors will take a look at the draft and incorporate all or parts of it to replace/improve the current page.

Thank you in advance for taking a look and thoughtfully considering my edits, since I have a conflict of interest. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. Prernagupta1 (talk) 17:13, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Prernagupta1: I've declined this for now, because your request is too broad. It's not completely clear exactly what you want changing in the article - would you like the current article replaced with your draft here? I would suggest you make a few, explicit requests with what you want changed, in the format of "please add X after Y, because of Z", or "change A to B, because of reference C". This would be easier for other editors to review and implement. Please do re-submit your request once you've done this. I haven't had a thorough look at your draft, but having a quick glance, it appears to be pretty well-sourced. I would suggest that the "Features" section is perhaps a bit too long and in-depth, however (see WP:NOTHOWTO for more). If you need any more help, you can click this link to ask a question, or just leave a message on my talk page. Seagull123 Φ 17:18, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Prernagupta1: I have read through the draft and find it to more closely resemble a press release than an encyclopedic article. I agree with Seagull123 that the Features section is a main issue. As for citations, the ones from Crime Fiction Lover (a personal blog post) and HuffPost (author works for a media relations firm) aren't reliable, secondary sources. Don't feel the need to find all media coverage about the company and link it as a citation to each sentence. Happy New Year! --Daylen (talk) 07:30, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Daylen: I think you must be looking at the currently live page rather than the proposed draft at User:Prernagupta1/draft, because the citations you are referencing (Crime Fiction Lover and Huffington Post) are not in the draft; they are only in the currently live page. The draft would improve the page by removing those citations. I did trim the Features section already to address @Seagull123:’s feedback, though I don’t know if they/you feel more cuts are necessary. Prernagupta1 (talk) 20:39, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Prernagupta1: Thank you for pointing that out, I sometimes lose track of tabs. I've made some slight modifications to the draft, and would additionally propose that you remove, "As of 2016, Hooked was the top revenue-generating book app...," due to it not adding importance to the reader and the formula not including Apple Books figures, creating a distorted view. Let me know your thoughts. Once complete, feel free to remove the |D|S on the request edit template to reopen this request. Kind regards, Daylen (talk) 01:21, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Daylen: Thanks Daylen. I've removed the sentence you requested, along with |D|S. Let me know if I need to do anything else! Many thanks for your help. Prernagupta1 (talk) 20:45, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Prernagupta1 and Daylen. Happy to help on this if you need. I think the draft still needs some tweaks to be more in line with Wikipedia pillars--and needs some wls. Mind if I edit too? I'll butt out if you already have this covered, Daylen --FeldBum (talk) 14:39, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as FeldBum is willing to help edit, and there don't appear to be remaining major concerns, I think we can go ahead replace the current article with the text from User:Prernagupta1/draft and continue editing on the live page. --Paul_012 (talk) 21:03, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@FeldBum: Thank you, further editing on the draft would be greatly appreciated! Daylen (talk) 06:35, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello all! I’m unsure of next steps now. Is @Daylen: or @Feldbum: making tweaks to the draft or is @Paul 012: implementing the draft so further edits can be made when/if they choose to in the live page? Is there anything I need to be doing that I haven’t done? Prernagupta1 (talk) 21:06, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing ping to FeldBum, as usernames are case sensitive. --Paul_012 (talk) 22:29, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping Paul_012 and Prernagupta1. Been on a short staycation and trying to limit my time in front of the computer, but started making edits to the draft. Should be ready to port over in a couple days. Feel free to bug me if you don't see my edits. --FeldBum (talk) 01:34, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@FeldBum: Just following up per your instruction to bug you :) Prernagupta1 (talk) 18:53, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping Prernagupta1. Been steadily making edits. About halfway through. Do you have a definite number for how many texts a free users gets before text delay? We want to avoid "fuzzy" numbers or vague statements. Thanks! --FeldBum (talk) 02:17, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@FeldBum: at the time the referenced article was written, Hooked was giving 100 texts per day for free. However, the most recent business model is a bit different -- the app now gives unlimited texts for free during a 7-day trial period, after which point readers must subscribe for continued access. Prernagupta1 (talk) 18:59, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, Prernagupta1. Any chance you have a cite handy for that? Thanks! --FeldBum (talk) 21:06, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I am not aware of any Wikipedia-compliant citations that could be used for any of the information you’d like to add. Prernagupta1 (talk) 22:27, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@FeldBum: Just checking in. You said you had edits to the draft that were necessary before it could become the live article. However, it’s been 4.5 months and the proposed draft still looks basically the same as when it was originally proposed. Are you still working on it? Would you be comfortable working on it in article-space if @Paul 012: or someone else approves it? I think the draft is a lot better than what’s up now but if you have any specific feedback I can try to address it! 2601:640:8900:F8D0:2107:F10B:D152:BD12 (talk) 19:10, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Having notified FeldBum, who agreed, I have merged the draft into the live article. Edits can continue to be made and suggested here. Marking request as accepted. --Paul_012 (talk) 15:56, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
