MP 1831 to 1835?
[edit]Is this the Horatio Ross who was MP for Aberdeen Burghs 1831 to 1832 and for Montrose Burghs 1832 to 1835? Laurel Bush 10:30, 21 July 2007 (UTC).
Yes, it is. To judge from the Montrose Burghs page, Arbroath was merely one element in that constituency from 1832. Moreover, according to my source (the Pluscarden Benedictines magazine article), Ross contested Paisley in the January 1835 election, so it was presumably in 1835, rather than 1834, that he ceased to be member of parliament for Montrose Burghs. I have corrected the page accordingly. Many thanks.

Is there a reliable reference for his membership of the Artists' Rifles? He would have been getting on for 60 when they were founded. 45ossington (talk) 18:40, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
