The French defender, 22, has passed his medical and agreed personal terms, with his move subject to international clearance and a UK work permit.

"It's a really exciting moment for me and my family," said Konate, whose contract will run from 1 July.

The 22-year-old central defender will officially become a Liverpool player on 1 July having finalised personal terms last month and passed a medical. Konaté, whose transfer is subject to international clearance and a work permit, was Jürgen Klopp’s first choice to strengthen the department that was blighted by injury last season.

Suggest changing the Liverpool section as follows:

On 28 May 2021, Liverpool announced that they had reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to acquire Konaté on 1 July, pending international clearance and a work permit being granted.^[2] The club had already agreed personal terms with the player in April 2021^[3], and triggered his release clause of approximately £36 million in May 2021.^[4]
