Template:Infobox Indian Institute of Technology

[edit]

This article uses the template {{Infobox Indian Institute of Technology}}. This template was forked from {{Infobox university}} way back in 2006. The template {{Infobox university}} has been completely rewritten since then, and this forked template has not benefitted from these improvements. From the point of view of maintenance, a few standard templates are better than a collection of many specific ones.

As this is a Research Institute, the appropriate template would appear to be {{Infobox laboratory}}. If the template {{Infobox Indian Institute of Technology}} in this article were replaced with {{Infobox laboratory}}, no information would be lost. I therefore suggest that this be done. Fellows of the Institute

[edit]

This is a lengthy and detailed section. Is it usual to have a list of all the fellows? Is it usual to give details against names if there is to be such a list? It probably is not appropriate to have a Notable alumni section instead. I would think it more appropriate to refer the reader to its reference publication (where the layout of the information is also superior).--Brenont (talk) 20:51, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed this section. A comprehensive list of alumni isn't appropriate, particularly when unreferenced and no information about notability is given. -- Mikeblas (talk) 21:01, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
