Move

Moved in preparation for a new article covering Pakistan, who has an agency of the same name. The name "Intelligence Bureau" is also generic and possibly should be used to point to "Intelligence agency," as well. -Joseph 17:05, 2004 Sep 1 (UTC)

From the article "The Bureau is also authorised to conduct wiretapping without a warrant. This clause is mostly misused by ruling governments to spy on their political opponents, sometimes indicting them on false criminal charges. The IB also has numerous authors who write letters to various newspapers and magazines to support the government’s perspective." WOW! Can you atleast add an "allegedly"?

Yea, it's written in a strange manner, tense shifts regularly, and the "Activities" section is rife with stuff like that. 68.39.174.238 17:31, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Changes on Article

Reverted to earlier good version. Rank equivalence is compared with Indian Police Service (IPS) as IB is Central Police Organisation (CPO) as per Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Do not change without citing official source.

Following are indicative list of Official sources 1. Published Government Documents/Reports. 2. Studies by reputed national and international institutes. 3. De-classified files related to IB and RA&W. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.98.254.15 (talk) 13:39, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

"Please change X" is not acceptable and will be rejected; the request must be of the form "please change X to Y".

Ham Radio License in India

Under the 'Activities and Operations' subsections, there's a line that states the following: " One known task of the IB is to clear licences to amateur radio enthusiasts" but with no credible sources to back up that claim.

According to a order posted by the Department of Telecom, the Intelligence Bureau or the MHA for that matter are no longer involved in providing security clearances for licenses except for certain areas. Could this notice https://arsi.info/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Security_Clearance-OM-R-11014032015-PP.pdf suffice as proof that the IB was involved in granting security clearances? And could someone with sufficient privileges also add a line or two stating the IB is no longer involved in granting security clearances except for certain areas? The training for ACIO-II is done in Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi. The training details of senior officials is confidential.

For recruitment of Group A officers, mostly it is by deputation from Indian Police Service (IPS) and other Group A Central services after some minimum years of service in parent cadre. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts exams for certain Group A officers in Intelligence Bureau.

Recruitment for personal belonging to Group B, C and D is through competitive exams conducted by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
