Removal of sourced information

[edit]

Just to keep an eye on whether semi-page protection may be needed:

look very much like the same person using two different IPs, or two people coordinating. The two edit summaries show no understanding of WP:VERIFIABILITY and WP:RS. Boud (talk) 21:00, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@NHCLS: and others editing this article: I've added the Arab–Israeli conflict contentious topics warning to the top of this talk page, based on Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Palestine-Israel articles 4#Standing sanctions upon primary articles. This is clearly a primary article since the main university building was destroyed by Israeli military forces. I'm not an expert in implementing these various restrictions, so please read the guidelines at the top of this page and the #Remedies and #Enforcement sections.
Based on the notice above, it seems that any edits by non-WP:XC editors can be immediately reverted for compliance with the sanctions, in which case the revert counts as a "non-revert". We could also ask an admin for semi-page protection, which would avoid the need for manual reverts. Boud (talk) 21:16, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. Thank you! NHCLS (talk) 21:31, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Building vs buildings

[edit]

Various sources talk about either "the university" or a building or several buildings being destroyed. Since a university is not just the building(s) that it occupies, these make the facts hard to extract from the sources. My edits on this have attempted to avoid trying to sort out this issue (leaving it for others to sort out later), so feel free to find sources which state clearly if just one building or if several buildings were destroyed, and tidy this up in the article. Keep in mind that we use the information from sources, not (in general) their words, and most sources will make minor errors; a source that is clear about one type of information may be fuzzy on another. (My vague recollection from the sources is that apparently a main building and at least one side building were destroyed.) Boud (talk) 21:40, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Palestine Chronicle

[edit]

It's generally more difficult to find independent sources establishing the reliability of Palestinian news sources as opposed to the reliability of Israeli news sources; the funding, material living conditions, risk of being bombed or arrested, freedom to travel through borders, and so on, differ by orders of magnitude for journalists and news organisations living in/based in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel versus those living in/based in Israeli territory; see WP:BIAS.

If someone feels that the Palestine Chronicle reference, added in this edit by Citing, should be removed or kept, please present arguments and evidence for or against the website's reliability, and whether it's sufficient as a second reference for the claim that Israa University stated that about 3000 artefacts were removed.

  • (self-source) The about page lists Ramzy Baroud, Wikidata Q117425400 as the head and states Hanan Ashrawi, Noam Chomsky, Robert Jensen as some of its Honorary Editorial Board members.

Edit or take this down

[edit]

This entire article has anti Israel undertones and is propoganda. Hamas used this zone to conduct war activities, which is why it was imploded. 98.53.65.119 (talk) 23:17, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talk|contribs) 23:34, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
