I don't really see why we need to write "cloistered Emperor" or "Emperor Emeritus" every time we mention Go-Toba. You wouldn't talk about the former King Richard or the King Emeritus Charles V or anything like that, would you? LordAmeth 18:50, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The reason why I added Emperor Emeritus to all was because, in Japanese we make clear distinction between tenno (Emperor at the throne) and joko (retired emperor) (and hoo (cloistered? emperor)). By the way, I find the article Cloistered rule extremely problematic and disagree to the changes to Cloistered Emperor here. The word "cloistered" gives totally different image of Go-toba, who became monk only just before he was exiled.
Although I agree that repeating cloistered or Emeritus all the time is not very nice, I don't really like using Emperor Go-Toba instead. How about using just Go-Toba except for the first appearance in each paragraph? Aotake 00:03, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I like that idea. It'll keep things shorter and simpler. I just don't care for the term 'emeritus'. It's just too much of a non-Japanese concept... LordAmeth 02:09, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
