The image appearing in this article is not of Jack Baker (footballer, born 1878) but of Jack Baker Sr. who also played with Geelong from 1889-92, 10 years before the subject of the article. More significantly, Jack Baker Sr. played with Carlton from 1882-88, was Champion of the Colony in 1883 and captain of Victoria against Tasmania in 1887. This is documented at https://www.blueseum.org/Jack+Baker where the complete version of the image appearing in this article is reproduced, making clear it is of the Carlton champion.
As far as I am aware Jack Baker Sr. was not related to the subject of the article, John Robert Baker. However Jack Baker Sr.'s son, John Edward Baker, also played with Geelong from 1913-17 and has a Wikipedia stub article as Jack Baker Jr.
