Roles in television/movies
[edit]Is it just me or has many of her roles in recent years been of a therapist/shrink or similar roles? 71.2.109.222 (talk) 03:24, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
May have imagined it, but though I saw her on on the film Porky's - somewhere in the first half ... either one of the girls in the gym, or a waitress or dancer at porkys —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.11.177 (talk) 09:26, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Proposed addition to article
[edit]Given her recent involvement with Xbox, the Xbox Outreach Team is proposing the additions below to the Jane Lynch section of Wikipedia. Our intent is to provide factual and relevant updates to this entry. Please feel free to send questions or concerns regarding these changes to us directly at xboxoutreach@live.com, or simply within this discussion forum. If there are no concerns raised by Friday, November 20, 2009 by 5 p.m. PT we will update the Wikipedia page as detailed below.
Immediately following the entry's final paragraph,
She currently stars on the Fox series Glee, the pilot episode of which was broadcast in May 2009. Lynch won glowing reviews for her take on the aggressive cheer leading coach Sue. Mary McNamara of the LA Times wrote, "Lynch alone makes Glee worth watching."[4] Prior to her work with Glee, she was a series regular on the Starz comedy Party Down. It has been renewed for a second season, but due to her work on Glee she will not be returning.[5]
we propose the insertion of the following text:
Throughout her career, Lynch has also appeared in many TV commercials, one directed by Christopher Guest, who then later cast her in 2000's Best in Show.[1] In November 2009, Lynch appeared in the “It’s More Fun Time” campaign commercials for Microsoft’s Xbox 360. [2]

I strenuously object to your marketing campaign. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.193.26.122 (talk) 19:55, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- A statement claiming that anyone 'alone makes a show worth watching' should not be in any encyclopedia article, as it is POV. Lkjhgfdsa 0 (talk) 06:45, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Time to promote her role in Glee to first mention after "best known for..."?
[edit]Is it time to promote Lynch's role in Glee to first mention after "best known for..."?
I'd suggest that's definitely the case here in the UK and suspect that it's also true elsewhere including America - any other opinions? —Preceding unsigned comment added by PRL1973 (talk • contribs) 13:41, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- "Best known" is something to be avoided, because it often depends on the point of view of the individual. "Known for" still allows for the main roles/projects to be mentioned. Rossrs (talk) 12:08, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Most people still have what they are most known for, as the first entry in their "known for" list. No? Wouldn't it be appropriate to change her most known for to glee? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.71.67.155 (talk) 05:28, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
Chelsea?
[edit]> She lived in Chelsea for a year and a half.
Why is this specified? Seems super weird. And Chelsea where? London? New York? Chelsea, MA? Chelsea, AL? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.192.97.24 (talk) 12:18, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
She lived in Chelsea, Clinton.--63.3.2.1 (talk) 00:33, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
Masculine vs. Feminine noun forms
[edit]In the Jane Lynch article the opening originally noted that she was (paraphrase) an "comedian and ACTRESS." The feminine form of comedian is comedienne . Since she was called out as an "Actress" and not an "Actor" - I changed the male form "comedian" to "comedienne" so the sentence all agreed in gender. Generally speaking, it makes me cringe when any woman entertainer refers to herself as an "Actor" or a "Comedian" and I think it's sad that women feel the feminine form of those nouns is in some way inferior - or using the feminine form diminishes their craft. I could not more strongly disagree. Jane Lynch appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno 9/14-15/2011 and in the same sentence referred to herself as an "Actor" while mentioning some "Waitresses." Why not call them "waiters" ? Because they were women. Women are waitresses, actresses, and comediennes; NOT waiters, actors, and comedians. By definition a woman cannot be a waiter, actor, nor comedian. English can be a beautiful language when used correctly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moucon (talk • contribs) 04:28, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- You are incorrect in stating that a woman cannot be an actor. Actor has always been gender neutral; it applies to both males and females while "actress" is female specific. --AussieLegend (talk) 07:35, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- I agree. Actor and comedian are gender neutral, any dictionary will tell you so. Many female actors consider the term 'actress' to be disparaging. I wouldn't be so certain of what is considered 'correct'. Span (talk) 09:04, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Vegan?
[edit]The article cites an image gallery on SFGate claiming Lynch is vegan, but I can't find a more authoritative source on the matter besides other image galleries of "top vegan celebrities" and the like. While she has worked as a PETA activist, she seems to focus on animal shelters and spaying and neutering. Furthermore, in a recent episode of MasterChef (season 4, episode 10), she is seen ordering, consuming and praising fried chicken ("I'm so enjoying, this I can't stop eating"), even though a vegan entree was available. Can we remove the "vegan" claim, or is the SFGate article referenced considered to be sufficiently reliable? Roboticon (talk) 02:26, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
List of works by Jane Lynch
[edit]Support split - Filmography and discography take up more than one third of the page, and should be split to a new article entitled List of works by Jane Lynch. --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:55, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
