How to refer to a Thai person

[edit]

I noticed that someone has kindly changed how this article calls Jennis Oprasert from 'Jennis' to 'Oprasert' in many places. I understand that the universal practice to refer to a person by the family name. However, it sounds highly unusual to Thai ears, as it's a common pratice for Thai people to call someone, in the formal manner, by first name.

Also, in other wikipedia pages of Thai persons e.g. Cherprang Areekul (other BNK48 member), Teerasil Dangda (Thai national football player) or Chuan Leekpai (Thai politician), the editors refer to them by their first name.

In this regard, I'd kindly ask to consider reverting the way to refer to Jennis Oprasert in this article to 'Jennis' in all places. J Toppo (talk) 02:28, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done. See also WP:MOSTHAI and MOS:GIVENNAME for future reference. --Paul_012 (talk) 08:49, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
