Inaccurate description of the dimmer circuit
[edit]This article (and some others on WP) claims that Spira designed the first light dimmer using a thyristor (implying the well-known phase control circuit). However he didn't. His first light dimmer (see the patents for a chronology of this) was a simpler circuit, based on switching across a network of a tapped autotransformer and diodes. His thyristor circuit came later.
