John Adams, Sr

[edit]

What was the point of "redirecting" and essentially destroying this article? The benefit of an online based encyclopedia is an infinite amount of detailed information that can be published, as opposed to the printed encyclopedias that are forced to limit their content. The questionable lack of importance of a direct ancestor of two U.S. Presidents, in my opinion, did not merit a destruction of the article, which, in future, could have been expanded further. --24.185.7.68 (talk) 19:45, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He was a non-notable shoemaker, and is only remembered for being married to a socialite and being the ancestor of two presidents - ie. he himself is non-notable. Being related to a notable person, does not not make one notable. Astronaut (talk) 11:29, 22 July 2010 TC)
The redirect pointed the article to the son's page. This is vandalism. People occasionally want to research the parents of US presidents and the article is a useful stub. Please do not redirect to the son's page. TMLutas (talk) 15:41, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with TMLutas. I ran across this when I followed a link in the article on John Adams (the 2nd US President) to his father.

I certainly think that an article on the president's father is valuable. For example there are articles on both George Washington's father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Rick (talk) 23:15, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, and re-created and merged this article from two previously deleted pages. Bearian (talk) 00:30, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
