[edit]From [1] we have
- "John Charles Wilson, Doctor of medicine. Born 1892. Educated at Queen’s University, Belfast. Served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the Great War. An Ulster Unionist member. Sat for the Iveagh division from the general election of 1933 until the general election of 1938. Died 1968."
1915 - Not such a lovely war ... Ballymena 1915 refers to "RAMC - Lt. J. C. Wilson, Alexandra House", and "Dr. John Charles Wilson, son of the late Mr. David Wilson of Alexandra House, Ballymena has been given a commission in the Royal Army Medical Corps. He is an old Academy boy." From 1917, same Ballymena site, "We understand that Dr. John Wilson, second son of Dr. Wilson, Galgorm, has obtained a commission in the Royal Army Medical Corps and has gone to training camp in Blackpool. Dr. J. Wilson is an old boy of the Ballymena Academy and a graduate in medicine and surgery of Queen's. Belfast. His brother Dr. Owen Wilson of the Indian Medical Service is at present serving at the front."
It looks like he practised in Dromore: "In later years Dr. John Charles Wilson, J.P., long since deceased, also resided and practised there" (i.e. Princes Street); and at the local hospital a day room was named "the Wilson Room in memory of John Charles Wilson, M.B., J.P., a beloved physician who cared greatly for this hospital and served it faithfully for many years. November, 1968." [2]
These aren't great references, but they do add up to a picture of the person. Charles Matthews (talk) 19:25, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
- Am not sure I'll be able to add much more, but will try and look at some point. Carcharoth (talk) 13:25, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
