Bringing up to date (with refs) and some refactoring.

This bio of a living person has gotten woefully out of date and somewhat scrambled, also with broken links. I'm going to make a stab at fixing it. If you don't like my attempt, please discuss here rather than just reverting -- I'm happy to go with any kind of consensus, just trying to make it more accurate.
