Censorship[edit]

Please do not construe that highlighting the difference between the personal name John Henry Clark and his Official name John Henrik Clarke is vandalism. The slander would be grounds for academic censure. The censors ignorance of the tradition of Officers using aliases to separate personal and professional lives, for protection of self and others is astounding.

Born as a civilian Human John Henry Clark died as Officer John Henrik Clarke. Talk to the FBI or CIA if you don't get that. Otherwise, stop vandalising contributions because of your prejudices against a black Officer exercising the same Human Rights as anyone else. I refer to the Human Topic and not myself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.156.219.196 (talk) 15:25, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

unverified information[edit]

unverified information. The academic credentials of professor clarke as listed from coming from some distance university is not verified. For a historian who has over sixty years of experience as a specialist in the field of african world history this seems to be a low blow. I distinctly remember hearing in a lecture /discussion with professor Lefkowitz and the other co-author of black athena revisited, that he studied history formally at Columbia, and his specialty is chronology. Whatever the case, the fact that he is known as an autodidactic, as well as a student member of the Harlem History Club, it would not be proper to mention the intellectual legacy that professor clarke inherited from such Ph.D trained professors as Huggins, Ferris, etc.

Clean-up[edit]

I removed the TRUTH section and placed the information with the rest of the biographical information in the heading. The sites mentioned in that section, however, I found links for and put in the External Links section. I'm tempeted to put this is article with uncited sources category, but I'll see if my recent edits draw any attention first. -- Craigtalbert 05:40, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No action. Put reference and clean-up notices on the page. If anyone is interested in doing some research. -- 71.212.255.134 20:39, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(auto)biographical books on John Henrik Clarke, for article research[edit]

Removed reference tag[edit]

I added a link to a page with good info on Dr. Clarke and removed the reference tag. Looking for some other good sources of info. Pihanki 23:40, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

not neutral[edit]

Interestingly he is categorized as a black racist here: http://www.ferris.edu/HTMLS/othersrv/isar/archives2/mehler/academic.htm

and here we it is claimed he espoused (its a memorial site made after his death) theories widely regarded as pseudohistory: http://www.nbufront.org/html/MastersMuseums/JHClarke/JHCvmuseum.html

Here he claims among other things, that the Jews control New York City: http://www.africawithin.com/clarke/jews_and_the_african_world.htm

I didn't have to dig for these, this is all stuff from sites that were at the top of my Google search of his name. Yet the Wikipedia article, before I edited it, had a tone of active adulation which is inappropriate for an encyclopedia and doesn't seem to document any of the topics above despite the fact that they were readily available to anyone with access to Google. The article is a Fans pov, it is written without balance. I would not put much in the pro-Zionist work of Ferris and Mehler but Clarke was no humming bird either. and did espouse a very bigoted opinion at times. And that should be noted in this article. Very polemic personality with questionable scholarship, also the link to Dr. Ben needs to be mentioned because he supported a lot of Pseudo history.--Inayity (talk) 04:32, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

unreliable and topic-authored sources[edit]

I think we need to be careful to avoid using autobiographical resources in a Wiki biography per Wikipedia's Reliable source policy, which states that sources should be third-party and reputable. This article seems entirely one-sided. This isn't surprising as all we have in sources is a book by a black racist, a black collegiate site for students, and three by a non-notable and dubious looking afrocentric webpage. We need this article to be balanced with more neutral, credible sources. Pstanton 00:18, 10 January 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pstanton (talkcontribs)

More sources have been added, including NY TImes.--Parkwells (talk) 13:29, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions[edit]

This fool is a certifiable idiot. The article needs to be pegged for review and some REAL historians called in to evaluate it.

Also, many tapes of his "lectures" exist. They should be linked to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.237.249.48 (talk) 23:32, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious as to why his very strong anti-Semitic views are not mentioned in the piece. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.215.222.198 (talk) 20:57, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe because it is not anti-semitic but fact.--Inayity (talk) 08:27, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone please correct his date of death to July 16, 1998? He is buried in my city and that is the date on his headstone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.190.4.211 (talk) 16:23, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This entire article is almost a verbatim copy of http://www.blackhistorymonth.org.uk/article/section/bhm-heroes/john-henrik-clarke/ so the notes should either be revised to show the actual source as the text is in many cases VERBATIM lifted from that article so I am unsure as to why there are multiple citations listed. Either the single source should be shown or it should use other actual sources.Veritatem Quaerendam (talk) 02:51, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Article does not tell you anything really[edit]

who was John Clarke? Had I not known I would not know from this Whitewashed article. Clarke was a bitter bigot and an icon among Afrocentrics yet all of this is cleaned up. He was pals with all kinds of questionable people who have less than ideal wiki pages. Jefferies, Williams, and others. I am shocked his page is so nice. Clarke was divisive and a hardliner he def did not speak nicely about Whites. Now all I am saying I think a more realistic article is needed. B/c I want to know who this person was in a nutshell, and this article looks like a fan job. see http://www.ferris.edu/HTMLS/othersrv/isar/archives2/mehler/academic.htm too much controversy yet here he looks like anther clean academic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.0.248.208 (talk) 12:35, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
