[edit]Greetings-Your characterization of Angel as a scientific racist is misplaced. On the very first page of Angel's 1942 dissertation he states that he came to Greece to counter the claims of Nazis. He does not argue for "purity" in races, but compared the population of Classical Greece to a bell with many overtones all contributing to the development of Classical Greece. While he used typology he was not a rigid typologist, stating that types were an inaccurate analytical tool. While he was a student of Coon, painting Angel with the same brush belies the excellent work that Angel undertook independent of his adviser.
a reference out there on the web regarding a skeleton he helped identify
[edit]Please consider placing this (web reference at the bottom of the section you are reading) in a footnote in the article. I myself recall hearing of a victim whose skeleton was identified with help from this anthropologist. The victim was Susan Spahn, who disappeared in 1976 from a nightclub in Delaware. I have just put a note in talk page about (Ted Kennedy's) Chappaquiddick incident about a purse being left behind. The web reference I am referring to is:

(On further thought, let me explain why I reference a purse left behind. That also happened when Susan Spahn disappeared; I have read that her purse was found at the nightclub. In early 1978, a skull was recovered, and was identified as hers via dental records, so it was known for certain from then on that she was dead. It was theorized that an animal could have dragged the skull from another location, and investigators then fanned out looking for other skeletal remains, and presumably they found remains which the subject anthropologist was then able to examine.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.82 (talk) 16:01, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
