Hi and thank you for editing the page. It looks excellent! I do apologize for what may seem like "blatant" copyright infringement and any issues caused by this. But I am the original author of the NuPECC NPN article and I had spoken via email with the Editor of the journal, please see below:

Is this sufficient? Or would something need to be in writing directly to Wikipedia? Or perhaps I should just edit the published Wiki article so it is not so close to the NuPECC NPN one.

All the best and thanks for all you do!

Mark

Hi xxxx, I don’t believe this would be a problem, as Wikipedia is free and non-commercial, and you are the author, provided they are referenced quotes as appropriate. Please do link to the Version of Record on tandfonline.com.

Thanks, xxxx

Hi Markriley12345. I am sorry you ran into this problem. We try to be a clear as possible about not copying existing published material into the encyclopedia. When you click edit you see this message: Content that violates any copyrights will be deleted. Encyclopedic content must be verifiable. Any work submitted to Wikipedia can be edited, used, and redistributed—by anyone—subject to certain terms and conditions. Wikipedia is open to serious liability if it allows copyright infringement.
The copyright holders can donate material. The information is at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. To be clear, Wiikipedia is NOT non-commercial; the license we use allows reuse for ANY purpose with proper attribution and carrying forward of the license terms.
If you get permission to use the material do not copy it back into the article. An encyclopedia article is very different than a magazine article. Magazine writing makes the topic sound wonderful. We have articles about topics whose facts are wonderful in themselves. Just write the facts with as few adjectives as possible. Read MOS:PUFFERY first. You can use the article as reference and rewrite in encyclopedic form. Since Simpson is still alive read our cautions about biographies of living people. There is a section about writing style.
After all this I would like to say that we really need knowledgeable editors who are willing to write articles about scientists. And many of our existing articles say very little about their scientific work. StarryGrandma (talk) 02:09, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed most of the email. We are an international online encyclopedia - you do not want names and email addresses here! StarryGrandma (talk) 02:13, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
