As far as I can tell, Lansman appears to have been a member of the Campaign for Labour Party Democracy, but I can't find a direct cite to a WP:RS to back that up. -- Impsswoon (talk) 23:59, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Wilderness Years" or "Connected with Tony Benn"[edit]

One editor has effectively reverted my edit substituting the former for the later with the following explanation: "According to 'History of the Labour Party (UK)' page, Wilderness Years only applies to one period. 51-64 were the 'Thirteen Wasted Years'". The term "Wilderness Years" used for the Foot and Kinnock years of the party's history is probably in few reliable sources, while the point about the use of the term 'Thirteen wasted years' is quite correct, but we cannot use Wikipedia as a source for itself. "Connected with Tony Benn" is a far more accurate description of the content which follows, and matches the passage on Lansman's re-emergence as someone connected with Jeremy Corbyn's campaign to become Labour leader. Newspapers say he is actually a multi-millionaire capitalist[edit]

There is no indication that Mr. Lansman has or is suing them for libel. If you add up the figures then he appears to be worth at least two million pounds and it is suggested that his connections with the companies Ortonovo Holdings and Foundation Property & Capital mean he is quite likely to be worth very much more than that. I disregard him going to public school since that was not at his own volition.

I look forward to a statement from Mr. Lansman saying that he is going to donate all his wealth to suitable charities and live in a council flat.

As the Mail, Express and Guido Fawkes/order-order blog are not considered reliable sources on Wikipedia, I would strongly advise against such as a passage using these citations as it likely to be removed. One assumes there are admissible sources for this reputed anomaly to be included, but they at least need to be strong for any attempt to resist a probable challenge. The actual source is an article by Andrew Gilligan in the Sunday Telegraph on 20 December 2015. Lansman's brother Stephen and son Ben run an asset-stripping company, Foundation Property & Capital, which works for 'high net worth' clients, identifying undervalued properties, often pubs, which can be acquired cheap and sold off for development. FPC's registered office is at the same Soho address where Lansman's own website Left Futures is based. Ben is a director of Ortonovo Holdings, which owns Left Futures. FPC, for instance, bought a hostel for the homeless in Castle Lane, Victoria, and sold it to high-net-worth developers for £22.5 million. They have acquired and sold off four other London hostels for the homeless as well, creating a severe problem for social services. They have turfed out a number of long-serving pub landlords from successful pubs in order to sell the properties to asset-strippers. That's the kind of thing they do. I can't find a WP:RS cite that has run with this since Gilligan's 2015 story in the Sunday Telegraph. Also the Sunday Telegraph has pulled the story off its website, which is odd - it was once here. Gilligan's "closely linked" seems to mostly add up to having a brother run this company, and his son becoming a director. Nothing there seems to back up that Jon Lansman is "actually a multi-millionaire capitalist". I'd like to see more WP:RS on this before we include it - if there was something solid in this you'd expect a paper like The Times to have run it by now. Searching for example for "Ortonovo Holdings" gives articles by The Spectator, The Times, the Daily Mail, and The Daily Express all saying similar things to the above. Seems very odd. List Of UK Millionaire Socialists[edit]
