Right now, the Spanish name template at the top of the article says that this person should be referred to as "Pedrosa Galán", but the article text refers to him simply as "Galán", and his article is sorted that way in categories. In other words, this article does not use Spanish naming customs. The purpose of the name template is to indicate to users how the person's last name should be handled by editors, but in this case that usage is ignored. The name template should be removed, since he is not referred to as "Pedrosa Galán". --Ken Gallager (talk) 18:59, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
NOTE: Most Spanish players go by their father's surnames during their careers. However, Mr. Galán goes by his mother's surname (I am Portuguese, and Spanish naming customs are precisely the opposite as in my country, father surname first, mother second). However, i still feel the naming customs tag could be used for informative purposes.
Thanks. I figured that was why some people want the template up there - simply for informative purposes. However, the template is intended to guide editors on how they should be referring to the player, and in this case (the only one I've seen so far), the template is misleading. It misled me, for instance. Best wishes, --Ken Gallager (talk) 12:30, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
