Notability[edit]

Guys, squabbling about his death. His death was mentioned in the parliament christmas announcements, 2007. I am his great grand nephew.

Please stop removing my flag questioning the notability of this person. That is a legitimate question to ask. There are no citations in the article to establish either the notability or the death of this person. I am entitled to add a notability flag to the article. Your persistent removal could be construed as vandalism. WWGB 14:08, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. As it stands, this article meets the requirements for speedy deletion. If the flag gets removed again without any attempt to improve the article, I'll go ahead and add the appropriate deletion tag. JayLitman 14:18, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I guess I don't understand how you can say that the death of a Jack Russell dog (same day as Milner) can stay when there is NO reference at all to him or his dying, whereas there is reference to Milner. I agree that there is noting to substantiate his death (other than an article in Hong Kong's South China Morning Post) but at least there is some reference... moreso than the dog at least. I will stop editing this so as not to be considered a vandal... but I still don't understand (I have read the notability etc.) User:Tom Murphy 22:36, 19 January 2007 (HKT)

I'm not sure what article you are talking about. This article perhaps, which does an acceptable job of describing Jack Russel's importance in the history of dog breeding and therefore, supports notability. Thus far, all we've learned about Joseph Milner is that he was a firefighter and he died, which isn't quite enough. Major awards, contributions to his field, recognition from peers, magazines, newspapers, etc. These are all examples of items that support notability. Of course, a list of important deeds/contributions will also require references. Hope this helps. JayLitman 16:44, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, there was an item below Milner which was about some dog, favorite pet of 'joe blow' or someone... it has since been removed by an editor. I have re-read the notability issue and also see where/how one adds a link to the obituary notice proving that one has passed. I am in better understanding now. This has been a learning experience and I will try to be a bit more attentive to the rules/regs in the future... and I'll get more on Milne shortly. Thanks for your help.
