[edit]@Yankees10: I don’t know how you can say the “wide majority of sources” favour “Joshua” over “Josh”. Have you done a Google search lately? The majority of sources published in the last week actually refer to him as Josh, not Joshua. Please stop reverting this change. – PeeJay 00:12, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- I would also like to call on @Hey man im josh, who originally moved the article based on sources I provided in a db-move template. User:Hey man im josh, what was your opinion of the references I provided? – PeeJay 00:13, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- You also certainly can't say the majority of sources say Josh. I can find a wide variety using either or. Like I stated, his NFL.com and Vikings bio's along with PFR and ESPN say Joshua. He has gone by Joshua since his Tennessee days. I don't know how you can make the definitive argument that as of right now it shouldn't stay as Joshua unless the wide majority of sources in the future use Josh.-- Yankees10 00:20, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Yankees10 & @PeeJay: My opinion is that it's pretty split. Sources that cover football are switch between Josh and Joshua, though as Yankees notes, a number of relevant sites list him as Joshua in their bios, which to me are more relevant. I usually look at player's social media to see what they go by, and his is a mixed bag based on his handles. His Instagram handle is @joshdobbs but the display name is Joshua Dobbs, his tiktok is @joshdobbs with a display name of Josh Dobbs, and his Twitter is @josh_dobbs1 with a display name of Josh Dobbs. I'm leaning towards reverting the move since it's not uncontroversial and I don't think we'll come to an agreement on this unless Josh(ua) himself weighs in.
- This doesn't add anything to the discussion really, but I also have "Joshua" in places, yet I don't go by it. Could be his preference and might not be, but I do think it's a bit weird if he wants to actually go by his full name. Hey man im josh (talk) 01:22, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh: The page was settled at Josh Dobbs for ages, and then User:SteeledDock541 comes along and reverts with no explanation. The article should stay at Josh Dobbs until someone can provide a compelling reason for it not to be there. – PeeJay 20:41, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hey. I'd like to chip that ESPN, NFL.com, the Vikings website, Pro Football Ref, CBS, Fox, Yahoo, NBC, the University of Tennessee, PFF, and The Athletic all have him as listed as "Joshua". So I'm not why we're insisting on calling him "Josh". Guys like Josh Jacobs and Josh Allen have Joshua as their full name, but most sources refer to them as "Josh", whereas Dobbs is mostly referred to as "Joshua". - @PeeJay: There is no reason that the article should remain at "Josh Dobbs" prior to a move discussion. The article's sequence of moves is shown below (in my time zone). Note that my move was based on a the G6 tag that you added, which I then processed.
- Nov 3, 2014 @ 23:29 – Yankees10 creates the page at "Joshua Dobbs"
- Nov 8, 2023 @ 15:32 – Hey man im josh moves page to "Josh Dobbs" (move summary:"per WP:COMMONNAME")
- Nov 8, 2023 @ 18:00 – Yankees10 moves page to Joshua Dobbs (move summary: "disagree. His NFL.com, PFR and Vikings bio all say Joshua as do many other sources")
- Nov 9, 2023 @ 06:19 – PeeJay moved page to "Josh Dobbs" (move summary:"more sources call him Josh now")
- Nov 9, 2023 @ 17:51 – Yankees10 moves page to Joshua Dobbs (move summary:"I literally just named three of the main bio's for NFL players. Every single one says Joshua. Do not move again without discussion")
- Nov 9, 2023 @ 19:06 – PeeJay moved page to "Josh Dobbs" (move summary:"check news sources, not just databases")
- Nov 13, 2023 @ 16:29 – SteeledDock541 moved page to "Joshua Dobbs" (move summary: none)
- Dec 8, 2023 @ 14:46 – PeeJay moved page to "Josh Dobbs" (move summary:"rv unexplained move")
- Just under 4 days is absolutely not "ages" and there's no indication that this was settled. You are the one who needs to provide a compelling reason to move it. Hey man im josh (talk) 20:55, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

aerospace engineer
[edit]ABC News of all sources was calling him a "rocket scientist" since he has an aerospace engineering degree and chose football over NASA. Is there no other documentation for this? 104.187.46.116 (talk) 15:01, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

Alopecia
[edit]In the personal life section, the paragraph “Dobbs is an advocate for awareness about alopecia, a condition leading to hair loss that personally affects him.” is misleading. Defining alopecia as a condition that leads to hair loss is incorrect, as alopecia IS hair loss. This is like defining baldness as a condition that leads to hair loss. 2600:8801:B828:2C00:1550:A14C:17A2:58E9 (talk) 02:00, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
