This is Ken Maiuri (though I understand you have to assume it's "really me" writing this (though who else would care?)), and I ask of whoever has the power to do so that this article please be deleted. It is full of incorrect (and in some cases embarrassing) "facts." Zaereth helpfully suggested on the biographies of living persons/noticeboard that I could "find some reliable sources" to "salvage it in a respectable manner," but I am uncomfortable that the article exists at all in its current state and would, again, please ask that it be deleted. Thank you for your time.Stereo45 (talk) 19:03, 21 June 2017 (UTC)Stereo45 (Ken Maiuri) 6/21/17[reply]
I verify that Stereo45 is Ken Maiuri, but I don't see the problem in 'the article...in its current state'. IMO, he's a very good and likable performer and interesting in his own right, and six other B-52s performers have articles devoted to them. MaynardClark (talk) 19:25, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I too believe Stereo45, yet we can't be too careful. You'd be surprised what vandals will do (often just kids with too much time on their hands). There is no offense intended, but rather for your protection.
I do not have the power to delete this article, but if I could I would. The reason is a total lack of reliable sourcing. The first source, for instance, is a website that gives musical notations and does not provide reliable reporting with editorial supervision. What's more, it provides none of the information found in the first line, which is what it is supposed to be referencing.
The second source is an opinion/editorial piece which only mentions his name a few times. I suppose it could be used to support the fact that he is with the B-52s just fine, but nothing more. The third source is Youtube, which in no way, shape or form can be considered a reliable source. Number four, Henning's personal website, is only a reliable source for Henning. What's more, it does not mention Mr. Maiuri even once. The only sources even close to being reliable are numbers 8 and 9, which are articles written by Mr. Maiuri himself. This alone shows his grasp of journalism and good writing practices. Unfortunately, these are not about him, so that only constitutes original research for the line they are supporting.
I agree that Mr. Maiuri is notable and probably should have an article, but believe he deserves better than that. He says there is inaccurate information and I'm inclined to believe him. I have cut the information which is not even in the non-reliable sources (along with many of those sources) and also removed any personal information which violates WP:BLPPRIVACY. Respecting the subject's wish, I would recommend taking this article to WP:Articles for deletion and nominating it there (Stereo45, you can do this as well), at least until some reliable sources --which are about the subject-- can be found. Ken worked on the article but told me that he is touring now and cannot focus his attention on the article. Others who follow him and/or the band could do a good job.
Information that had been there was cited carefully from public sources, including a long interview with Ken Maiuri in which he discussed his earliest years, composing and performing while in high school starting a band while in college. When he removed that discussion, he removed all the citations, so a search of the earlier versions of this Wikipedia article would show what that previously published text is.
