Jaywalking Ticket

[edit]

Any chance we could work that in? There are multiple sources, but I'm not sure how well it would fit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.152.191.3 (talk) 04:14, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say it's unimportant. PKT(alk) 13:36, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how it's too different from mentioning his eating habits, but maybe I'm just new. Also, sorry for forgetting to sign. 149.152.191.3 (talk) 21:14, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Number of children

[edit]

There looks to be a bit of a slow edit war going on between two parties, both apparently claiming connection to the subject. The focus of the edit war is whether Williams has three or five children.

I've restored back to the status-quo situation of three children, based on a White Sox media guide. It seems, in terms of improving the article, a number of issues need addressed:

  1. How many children has Williams fathered?
  2. How many stepchildren has Williams had through current or prior marriages?
  3. To what extent should stepchildren from prior marriages be mentioned?

When citing source about the number of children, make sure they are reliable sources. Please note that per WP:BLPPRIMARY, we may not use court documents, legal proceedings, or the like as sources. Sources really need to be published in independent sources like newspapers. —C.Fred (talk) 14:52, 20 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  1. 3 articles were referenced all from reliable sources: Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, and Chicago White Sox webpage. Did you view each of the cited sources? Also they were across a timespan of as early as this year and as far back as 10 years.
  2. His most recent marriage of less than one month you did not edit the mention of stepchildren. He has 2 stepchildren from his prior marriage and 2 from his current marriage.
  3. The marriage lasted over twenty years, he legally adopted the children from his previous marriage and not his current marriage, and several reliable sources were cited. Children are children so to what extent do you hold parents accountable as parents if you are not one yourself.
How much detail is necessary to include in the personal life section of a living biography? Love4truth (talk) 02:01, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Love4truth[reply]
Ultimately right now, the only source currently cited in the article is his White Sox bio. (The Sportsdivas article cites that.) —C.Fred (talk) 03:04, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I see more sources cited than the White Sox bio but maybe I'm viewing the sources differently than you are. More specifically, the direct quote from Ken Williams in the Chicago Tribune article. Love4truth (talk) 04:23, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Love4truth[reply]

Shouldn't this external link be removed for irrelevance? The article itself doesn't touch on their marriage at all. Mypeacefuljourney (talk) 16:55, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
