Talk:Kestrel
Difference from Falconidae?
[edit]There is a similar page Falconidae. Are they really two different pages? They should at least link to each other. Anyone who knows more to do the edits? — Preceding unsigned comment added by LosManos (talk • contribs) 09:01, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
Who?
[edit]What does this paragraph near the top mean?
"The Kestrel is also famous for being the nickname of Keri Lynch of Sutton Coldfield. Born on the 25th July, she is sister of King Harry Lynch"
If this is really of any importance, should it not be moved to the Disambiguation page?
In other words, what does this have to do with the bird in question?
- it's nonsense. jimfbleak 04:58, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Subgenus Kestrelus?
[edit]Are there enough taxonomic data to classify this group of species in it's own subgenus? As it seems by the article there is a rather clear evolutionary lineage for the kestrels to be considered a dinstinct monophyletic group in the Falco genus. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.219.127.169 (talk) 14:20, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the debate was move to Kestrel. Joelito (talk) 17:52, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Kestrel (bird) → Kestrel – Kestrel is already a redirect to Kestrel (bird), and the bird is the most prominent meaning of the word anyway. Yath 18:55, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Unsourced info?
[edit]The article states, "Kestrels can hover in still air, even indoors in barns." There doesn't seem to be a source, quote, or other supporting data for the fact. Looking for further info, I find this /exact/ statement multiple places online... presumably originating here on Wikipedia. What I cannot seem to find is anything like an prior source for the information. 2601:645:503:79D0:1886:71B6:DC03:DB4C (talk) 15:36, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
Description?
[edit]I gotta say, the heading "Description" looks a hell of a lot more like phylogeny than a description. Buried at the bottom of the first paragraph is "grey in their wings." I came to the page looking for size, color, and appearance, and can't find it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Treethinker (talk • contribs) 13:25, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
