i dont know how to use this, so someone should change the part in the article where it says mike finds god and kills bob, instead it should say that mike SAW god, and cut off his own arm, as it had a tattoo which linked him somehow to bob. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.168.137.109 (talk) 08:25, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

BOB and the Garmonbozia

[edit]

I would like to bring into the discussion that while it is noted in the article as a fact that BOB feeds on garmonbozia it is really only a theory. It is never stated that BOB eats garmonbozia. BOB never references it during the series or film at all. It is stated that BOB eats fear and pleasure. It is never stated that the corn is anything but pain and sorrow. The fact that Mrs. Tremond is offended by the corn and refuses it indicates that it is not something desired by all of the Black Lodge spirits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Forgivenessmercy (talkcontribs) 21:11, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tremors

[edit]

The article mentions an episode called "Tremors". No such episode exists.

BOB appears in: 'Traces to Nowhere' 'Zen, or the Skill to Catch a Killer' 'May the Giant Be With You' 'Coma' 'Lonely Souls' 'Drive With a Dead Girl' 'Arbitrary Law' 'The Condemned Woman' 'Variations on Relations' 'Path to the Black Lodge' 'Beyond Life and Death'

  • I threw in some episode references and the film. All the info listed in the text can be found in one of these. As to whcih info goes with which 'sode, I don't know how to do in-line footnote citation here, and I really question whether it's necessary. thoughts? - geoffr111 11 February 2007.
  • After reading the Wikipedia:Spoiler I added a "Spoiler Warning" to the page because it reveals major plot events that were used to create suspense. In particular it reveals "who killed Laura Palmer," which was the primary cliffhanger of the series. ~ User:jimmuhk - Wed May 30 15:52:37 UTC 2007

"Bob"

[edit]

The 1990s Twin Peaks Observer zine asked if Bob was "Bob". The answer is no, but I have seen that posited elsewhere. 149.10.145.75 17:37, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is also a lot of discussion as to whether Bob is Bob, Bob, or Bob, although the answer to all of these is definitely probably no. Does anyone have a source? 72.68.43.70 04:45, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sourced or no, associating BOB with Bob Dole, Bob Vila, or Bob McGrath is just plain silly. Encyclopedia articles are not improved by adding pointless exercises in apophenia. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 12:55, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The article states, as a fact, that Mike and BOB were once human, and that this human Mike cut off his arm. This is speculation. At the time of the Laura Palmer investigation, Mike did inhabit a human host with one arm. This man, Philip Gerard, was, at the most, in his early 50s. So, how could this be the same human who committed rapes and murders with KILLER BOB when BOB was already an inhabiting spirit when Laura's father Leeland Palmer, a man then in his 40s, was a child? The Spirit Mike did cut off his arm, but this might well refer to something altogether spiritual, as his arm is the Black Lodge spirit, the Little Man From Another Place. Perhaps someone more versed in Wikipedia policies and editing can correct and cite this, but Twinpeaks.org quotes Mark Frost (the co-creator of Twin Peaks) as having said that BOB is a Native American spirit who has existed since ancient times. Fair use rationale for Image:Silva Bob.jpg

[edit]

Image:Silva Bob.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Capitalization?

[edit]

Um, why's this? Maybe I wasn't watching close enough, but why is it BOB and not Bob in this article? 122.62.0.10 (talk) 08:39, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • That is simply the way it is spelled around the internet and articles and such. I'm not sure if it's the official spelling that the writer's gave the character, but people seem to use BOB as an identifier so you know it's the Twin Peaks Bob. --Blackout0189 (talk) 18:06, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Unless it is an abbreviation or something, that the MOS dictates the article (and use of the name) NOT be capitalized. 96.25.248.210 (talk) 22:18, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In the credits of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me Bob is listed simply as 'Bob" not "BOB" (In the TV series Frank Silva is never listed by character name). Despite what "the internet" thinks there is no reason the article should be written with "BOB". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.101.48.7 (talk) 03:51, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The spelling "BOB" comes from The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer and most writing followed that book's lead. Timrollpickering 13:31, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
How can the book "lead" when it wasn't published until 5 months after the show began? If the writing followed that books lead, it did so for only a short time — up until 2 years later in Fire Walk with Me — whereupon the case reverts back to lowercase Bob, per: that film's end credits. — SpintendoTalk 20:37, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In 1990 the internet wasn't so well developed and things moved at a slower pace so a book published during the show's run was going to have a strong impact. Capitalisation in books is easier to check than film end credits and so the book was more likely to be followed as more and more people started writing about the show especially online. By accident

[edit]

@JesseRafe: I think you missed the sarcasm in the edit summary. Look at the text:

[Silva] was given the role of Bob by accident, after a reflection of his face in a mirror was accidentally captured by the camera during filming

The repetition makes it look like there are two accidents here, but there is only one. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 21:30, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite and Expansion

[edit]

This article is poorly written and sourced and needs to be rewritten. It's structure is all wrong and should be structured in accordance to the manual of style.--Paleface Jack 00:04, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

– Capitalised forms are dubious at best; mostly fan usage for BOB (see above) and MIKE capitalisation does not seem to have any source. Frank Silva only ever credited as 'Bob', without 'Killer' appelation. Also poor disambiguation. U-Mos (talk) 22:19, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
