Pirated Kochadaiyaan?
[edit]I'd like details of this page [1] to be added to this article. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:14, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Animation
[edit]This is actually an animation film. Rajini gives voice to the lead role like the rest of the cast.
But I am not editing it until the trailer is released. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kollyfan (talk • contribs) 09:56, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
- There is a difference between 3D animation and motion capture. See their wiki pages for more info. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:49, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
Yeah! Kailash29792 is correct. Its not an animation movie.A new technique called the "Performance capture" aka "Motion capture" technique is being used in Kochadaiyaan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sivaprasanna (talk • contribs) 16:24, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

Nagesh in the cast.
[edit]It is well known that late actor Nagesh will be in the film by means of a 3D model. Since his likeness is being used, his name should be mentioned in the cast section of the article. For example the movie Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow came out in 2004. An actor who played a role in the film, Laurence Olivier, died nearly 13 years before the film's release. He too was created using visual and audio effects. Yet he is mentioned in the film page's cast section. Another example is Superman Returns, which came out in 2006, had the deceased actor Marlon Brando play a role. He was created "through the use of previous footage combined with computer-generated imagery". His name is also mentioned in the cast section of the respective page. Therefore, since I believe even Nagesh should be added here, I will be adding it. NiRinsanity 10:26, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
- The cast section already mentions him. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:02, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yes I had added it again. When I had added it previously, it was removed by another editor. Hence, this section was added on the talk page to clarify my repeated addition.
Languages of Kochadaiiyaan
[edit]There seems to be some confusion at the moment if the film was actually shot in multiple languages or only dubbed. Most sources do not indicate the film being shot in multiple languages. And also the production of the film is primarily being undertaken by the Tamil film industry. So it is quite apparent that it is indeed shot only in Tamil and dubbed in various other languages. So please, Marchoctober, until any sources indicate that the film was shot in multiple languages, do not add them in the infobox. NiRinsanity 06:56, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- One comment I have is, it is undeniably a pure Tamil film that was merely dubbed in Hindi, Telugu, etc. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:01, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- It's primarily a Tamil film which was simultaneously shot in Hindi, like Vishwaroopam. The Telugu version is a dubbed one. —Vensatry (Ping) 07:25, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- I agree that Vikramasimha (the Telugu version) is a dubbed version rather than a separate shoot. As for the Hindi version, is it really shot separately? I found no source that says the same. This source mentions "the dubbed-in-Hindi version of the Tamil film of the same name". Kailash29792 (talk) 08:11, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- May be I'm wrong then! —Vensatry (Ping) 08:34, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

However you want to term it as "dubbed or made" the movie is being made, the movie is being released in multiple language, which means it is made in multiple languages before release so how it is made ? Any film needs dubbing Tamil, Telugu or Hindi for that matter, you guys are not willing to understand the basic fact that it is made and released in multiple languages not Tamil alone. I hope this makes sense, it is not being remade after the release in a particular language. Marchoctober (talk) 23:12, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- The majority of editors agrees that is shot in Tamil, and dubbed in other languages. And the infobox will only contain one language: Tamil, the original language. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:31, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
- Even With all the editors not agreeing with me the facts have to be represented. Marchoctober (talk) 09:53, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
- Whats your so-called "fact"?--βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ)(Support) 10:21, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
- Marchoctober, do you understand that when you say a movie was made in multiple languages, it means all the actors and directors shot every scene multiple times. When you say Kochadaiiyaan is made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, you are implying that each scene was shot 3 times, once for each language, which is not the case here. It was shot only in Tamil and dubbed in other languages. NiRinsanity 13:22, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree with Nirin in that the film was only shot in one language (Tamil) and dubbed in the others. I even showed a source which states that Hindi version is a dub, and a source that Vikramasimha (the Telugu version) is also a dub rather than a shoot. As for the other languages (Japanese, Bhojpuri, English) does anyone here think they could shoot in languages they cannot understand, sparing English? Kailash29792 (talk) 13:40, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

- This movie is a cartoon why would any shots be reshot again ? The dialogues are dubbed by dubbing artists in Tamil the same way as they are dubbed in Telugu or Hindi the procedure is the same for any language for an animation movie, its just crazy that you folks deny to understand. I need you folks to understand that whatever the terms you want to use "dub" or "edit" or "make" the movie is made in multiple languages and only then released. Marchoctober (talk) 19:33, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
- Ok, let me give you another perspective. Take any American movie, for example, Avatar. Worldwide it was released and "made" in a wide variety of languages other than English such as German, French, etc. Would you change the language section of the respective article's infobox to Multiple languages? Why don't you change it and see what happens? NiRinsanity 20:05, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
- Could you provide more info on Avatar movie stating that all the language versions were released at the same time and the movie was actually made in multiple languages before being released? I do not have much information about that movie, and I am not concerned, I know for sure that here on kochadaiiyaan languages are mis-represented hence we change here. Could we not digress and stick to the Kochadaiiyan here. Marchoctober (talk) 01:16, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- In this interview, Soundarya has clearly stated that while Kochadaiiyaan is indeed animation (I prefer to say motion capture), it is not a cartoon. There is a difference between the two terms, in that "cartoon" refers to 2D animation like Tom and Jerry, while motion capture refers to people actually having performed their scenes. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:20, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Dear @Marchoctober:, You're saying "This movie is a cartoon"-Prove it?; ""why would be any shots be reshot again ?"-Sorry, none of them here are involved in production of the movie to answer that also no source explicitly mentions of re-shooting a single scene in several languages. Next, "the dialogues are dubbed by dubbing artists in Tamil"-Very false; all performing characters gave their voice while shooting on set and in dubbing studio too (See the teaser, trailer and making-of in Youtube). There are sources for the film being dubbed in languages other than Tamil, but not much of dubbing artists. For animation movie of computer-assisted type like Ice Age (franchise) or Rio (2011 film) and performance-capture type like The Adventures of Tintin (film), The Polar Express (film) and Avatar (2009 film), it is different in making, dubbing and release. Hence it is you, need to understand the difference between cartoon and animation. Release in multiple language is entirely different from making in multiple language. And shooting in multiple language is different from dubbing in multiple language. The context and technicality differs at stages. --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ)(Support) 03:06, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Marchoctober requested I participate in this conversation on my talk page. I did not know him prior and have never heard of this film before so hopefully I can add some unbiased words that help clarify the discussion.
When in an editing dispute, please remember that everyone's goal is to help the encyclopaedia so assume WP:GOOD FAITH. Marchoctober, the tone of your "crazy" comments is starting to become unproductive.
What is happening here, in part, is a disagreement over semantics. It revolves around when one can say what languages a film is "made in". The only way to resolve a semantic dispute is to agree on the meaning of ambiguous or disputed terms, or to avoid their use altogether. Most of the editors are being fairly precise by saying "shot in" or "dubbed in". In the references you used, Marchoctober, the relevant quotes are:
- "The film will be out in Dolby Atmos in three languages at the same time — Tamil, Telugu and Hindi."
and
I see nothing in those quotes to suggest the film was shot in those languages; assuming the other editors are correct about the film being shot in Tamil and dubbed into other languages, I have to say that I fully support their view of your edits. [If the film is truly multilingual in some way, please correct me.] In particular, the infobox's language parameter should say "Tamil" only. Although the template documentation doesn't so say explicitly, the infobox film language parameter does not include the languages into which a film has been dubbed. If that were the case, every Hollywood film would have tons of languages listed. See, for instance, The Avengers, which only lists English.
Marchoctober, I fully support the other editors' changing of your edits. They gave you an explanation with solid reasoning. The language you were using was imprecise and is contributing to the confusion. I know you were probably looking for a different opinion, but I think you are wrong in this case. Jason Quinn (talk) 15:44, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- @User:Jason Quinn I accept your opinion. Marchoctober (talk) 20:48, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Release section cut required
[edit]It should be cut to save reading time for readers. What's the point in saying. date x, but then date y. date y not confirmed, but then date z. date z not confurmed, but maybe date b. It's nonsensical especially when we know there are lots of Indian newspaper just trying to grab attention with sensational figures like box office results and release dates. It's better to sumnarize everything like I did and make it look encyclopedic rather than leaving this like a newspaper tracker.--ThaThinThaKiThaTha (talk) 00:06, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- I agree. The information of all of the film's postponed release dates isn't necessary at all. The content of this section should be summarized. NiRinsanity 02:47, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
