Illegal border crossings[edit]

We seem to be in a bit of an edit war on this minor point. The New York Times has reported the facts as stated. Removing them because you know better means you are removing a reputable cite and replacing it with your own local knowledge. That is to say you are doing your own research. That is not what Wikipedia is. We use conventional, secondary, sources to publish an encyclopedia. I propose we might find some some compromise wording, or perhaps you could find some press or government report that we can use to reference your personal knowledge. Kindly do not remove cited material in favor of your personal research. ''Paul, in Saudi'' (talk) 01:05, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you go on https://www.google.ca/maps/@45.0070803,-73.5171855,121m/data=!3m1!1e3 you'll see what this infamous point is. If you get informations at this place, you will see that it's indeed in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle. Several media outlets are erroneous on the exact name of the town. A lot will say "Lacolle" and the real point is in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle. --Poqué (talk) 02:24, 30 January 2020 (UTC) WP:BE[reply]
We cannot edit based on what any of us personally knows. That is original research and it is not allowed. We have to have a cite to a book, government report or news article from a reliable source. I understand this can seem confusing, but the policy is to improve the overall quality of the encyclopedia. Please do not add uncited information. Further, please leave in cited entries if they are relevant to the article. --''Paul, in Saudi'' (talk) 03:07, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
