Hi @User:Boleyn, can you please explain to me your reasoning behind including a reference section in an unreferenced article? I don't know what BLPunref drive is and what this has to do with adding an empty section to a page. Cheers! Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 14:02, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, as these are all slowly getting refs as part of the drive, they all need sections, though I would argue all articles need references sections anyway, as if they don't have refs, they should :) It means it is there and ready for as refs are added (while going through these, quite a few did have refs, you just couldn't see them in a clear section). It can also further emphasise the need to add refs. There isn't any rule against having a references section which is waiting for references, and it will be useful. Hi @User:Boleyn, thanks for the explanation, but as there doesn't seem to be a clear guideline for including empty ref sections, I can't agree with you. It doesn't make sense to me to have an empty section on a page—it just looks bad. The Citations template on top is sufficient to emphasize the need for refs, so I don't see the usefulness of an additional prompt at the bottom. I'm going to remove it in the meantime, as this discussion should have been started as soon as I first reverted you, but we can certainly continue discussing, in the hopes of reaching an agreement.
