Crime and Punishment[edit]

What I'm mostly worrying about right now is the reality series and Law & Order: Los Angeles. How could a reality series depicting the real thing, exist within a fictional television show. That's totally impossible! Yes, of course we shall watch out for Law & Order: Los Angeles, but a friend of mine is getting teaser trailers about it from Yahoo and I'm quite sure that it is going to come on the air. I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you wondering how can Law & Order: Los Angeles coexist with the Crime & Punishment documentry/reality series? I see no conflict there at all. Firstly, because C&P was cancelled a decade ago, and therefore they don't actually coexist. Secondly, because C&P was filmed in San Diego, not Los Angeles, so they're not in the same place. And largely because the existance of C&P has never been acknowledged in-universe in the fictional series. In fact, there was never any claim that C&P took place in the fictional universe. It was set in the real world, because it was the real world.

In fact, C&P wasn't really a Law & Order show at all, it was a separate documentary-type series that aped the L&O presentation style and was exec produced by Dick Wolf. It never actually had "Law & Order" in it's title (despite the common misconception repeated in an above section that it did), nor was it set in the L&O universe. I frankly think this article makes way too much of the historically curious footnote that was C&P. Conviction, on the other hand, was really Trial by Jury season two, or at least was an attempt to keep something going there. J.K. Simmons as Dr. Emil Skoda[edit]

I need to point something out about the "medical professionals" table of the section about characters in the Law & Order franchise. J.K. Simmons's role as Dr. Emil Skoda needs to be added to the table of medical professionals. Can somebody please make sure that's recognized? Thanks. Consider adding FBI and FBI: Most Wanted to the series overview section?[edit]

Should we consider adding the shows FBI ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FBI_(TV_series) ) and FBI: Most Wanted ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FBI:_Most_Wanted ) to the Series Overview section ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_%26_Order_(franchise)#Series_overview ) consider that as of this evening Chicago P.D. and FBI had a crossover of sorts? I admit these shows are not in the Law and Order franchise but they are in the Law and Order Universe and as far as I can tell this Series Overview section doesn't distinct between franchise and universe. It seems to list what is in the wider universe. I mean note the inclusions of Chicago Med (which has never crossed over with Law and Order: SVU) and Chicago Justice (Which has had a character crossover to Law and Order: SVU but never the show itself).

I submit this may not be the place for this but I'm simply interested in seeing a place that catalogs everything in the wider universe and at the moment the only place on Wikipedia that appears to do this is the Series Overview section of this article. With so few details available at this time I won't even mention the new Law and Order series coming that will feature the return of Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler ( https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/christopher-meloni-as-svu-character-elliot-stabler-to-headline-new-dick-wolf-drama-series-for-nbc/ar-BB11Yv41?ocid=msedgntp ).

Franchising and licensing[edit]

I figured out how to put L&O: UK in here. It seems that Wolff and company franchised (as in McDonald's and Burger King) the show's name and format to foreign-language networks around the world, and dozens of countries have their own versions.
