Lee Elder's experience in Memphis
[edit]The 'story' about death threats and police escorts and a golf ball mysteriously disappearing are based on this article: [1] Here is the press report at the time about Elder's Memphis experience: [2] and another article written less than a week afterwards that addressed some of the issues Elder had as a black player on the PGA Tour and made mention of Memphis, [3]. To quote the part about Memphis: "During the tournament he reported an incident but said it wasn't racially inspired. He said some youngsters picked up his ball and threw it away." The reports in 69, particularly the latter, have more credibility than the 2008 piece. Both 1969 articles quoted Elder. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WilliamJE (talk • contribs) 16:51, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
