Update to Article

[edit]

I am new to Wikipedia and this is my first attempt top help update a page. Note the COI reference above.

Artist Leigh Bongiorno is now going by the Leigh Brooklyn. This is a request to edit to the article with accurate information about Leigh Brooklyn (formally Leigh Bongiorno).

Updates:

URL change to https://www.leighbrooklyn.com (note that http://leighbongiorno.com/ permanently redirects to the new URL). All instances of Leigh Bongiorno be replaced with Leigh Brooklyn. First sentence be changed to: Leigh Brooklyn was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and was previously known as Leigh Bongiorno and Wendy Leigh Knapp. An image for the article will be uploaded by the artist separately.

Please advise should you have any questions. Thank you. Tinkerx (talk) 06:46, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

See MOS:CHANGEDNAME. The first sentence should possibly be changed to: Leigh Brooklyn (formerly Wendy Leigh Knapp and Leigh Bongiorno; born 1987) is an American figurative artist. There are other ways it can be done also. -Lopifalko (talk) 09:25, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Tinkerx: I heard nothing back from you so I've gone ahead and done it. -Lopifalko (talk) 08:36, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Lopifalko: Thank you and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Can you please change the first sentence to the structure you suggested? Leigh Brooklyn (formerly Wendy Leigh Knapp and Leigh Bongiorno; born 1987) is an American figurative artist. Also, is it possible to change the title and infobox name from Leigh Bongiorno to Leigh Brooklyn? Tinkerx (talk) 03:21, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
WP:MAIDEN says "Multiple and changed surnames – patronymics and matronymics ... The general rule in such cases is to title the article with the name by which the person is best known". WP:COMMONNAME says "Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources)" -Lopifalko (talk) 17:21, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Lopifalko:Here are independent references using Leigh Brooklyn as a common name: SPACES[1], Land Studios[2], Cleveland.com[3], Creative Compass[4], Spectrum News[5], Fresh Water[6],District Gallery[7], More by Her[8].Tinkerx (talk) 17:45, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
