bogus "navigation aid" entry -- had a link to an unrelated disambiguation page

[edit]

The link to an unrelated disambiguation page -- specifically, a link to (John_Baines_(disambiguation)) -- in the "navigation aid" entry that says:

appears to be BOGUS. My guess is that someone copied the "format" for creating a new page, and thought that leaving in ((something like)) "{{about|the footballer|other uses|John Baines (disambiguation)}}" would be good form.

THAT would be correct, if and only if [c1] it were changed to "{{about|the footballer|other uses|Les_Barrell (disambiguation)}}" instead, and if [c2] the article Les Barrell (disambiguation) did actually exist. I would be happy to 'edit in' [c1] if [c2] were already true; but creating the page for [c2] is outside the scope of my ability. (Mainly since all other persons that I could find, with that surname, already have different first names).

So I think the right thing to do, is to just amputate the bogus "navigation aid" entry '{{about|the footballer|other uses|John Baines (disambiguation)}}'. If anyone ever wants to restore it, it will be present in the history list. (Besides which, that is unlikely to happen, -- any time soon.)

This "explanation" will be referenced in the "edit" comment. (Would it have been too long to include the whole thing 'inline' there? as part of the "edit" comment?)

Advice or other comments would be welcomed. --Mike Schwartz (talk) 22:13, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
