Ambiguous article title

[edit]

I suggest moving this article to Production of limes in Mexico because when I saw the title, I thought the article was going to be about quarrying lime, i.e. calcium carbonate, rather than the fruit. LadyofShalott 03:54, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, that would be against the standard naming convention for agricultural production articles. I could create another article on the quarrying lime.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:47, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well then, how about Lime (fruit) production in Mexico? That would be consistent with Lime (fruit). The title needs disambiguation. LadyofShalott 04:54, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

World's largest producer?

[edit]

It looks like this article and the main Lime (fruit) article conflict on the fact of who is the world's largest lime producer. The latter cites FAO statistics from 2007, and declares India first and Mexico second. It looks like the stats in general need to be updated, because the FAO has released 2009 data but (more importantly) it looks like the FAO stats are for lemons and limes combined. Nevertheless, it is important to note that the 2009 data says there were 2,571,530 tonnes produced in India and 1,987,450 tonnes produced in Mexico. So we might want to look for more sources for both articles, since without statistics just for limes we don't know which is correct. Steven Walling 00:51, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
