Plase Rewrite more formally

[edit]

"This is a list of former students of Fort Street High School who have attained notability in various fields. Unsurprisingly the school honors are very lame people who are not really famous at all." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wykymania (talkcontribs) 08:37, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not just write more formally, write more politely! I sound really stupid saying this, but, very lame people shouldn't be included. Wiki articles should be from a neutural perspective. I also find this really offensive since I go to Fort St. Our alumni aren't lame, they're Gansta! Little.miss.sunshine (talk) 09:04, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am changing to "List of Former Students of Fort Street High School", as the convention of "old fortians" is merely a PR stunt by schools to make themselves sound more prestigious than they actually are. It is unfair on non-elite schools who do not have a "title" for their alumni.

The convention on Wikipedia is to use the school's preferred term: see List of Old Sydneians and other such lists. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 08:57, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As a matter of convention, Wikipedia prefers usage of the school's own name for its alumni whenever these are established and reliable. Please stop cut-and-paste moving. If there is ever a consensus for a move, do it properly. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 11:06, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

list is for notable people

[edit]

Lists of people in wp should only contain notable people, ie those who have an article (or enough sources to create an article). This list contains many non notable people like business people or district court judges. We have to draw the line somewhere. I propose removing many of these non notable people. 6 years later it seems some non notable entries have crept in. I will remove those. LibStar (talk) 06:12, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
