No mention of submarine deployed radar

[edit]

Specifically refering to USS Batfish which destroyed 3 IJN submarines by tracking them initially (in each instance) by their radar emissions. The Japanese radar seemed incapable of seeing Batfish, even though they approached within 2 miles (in one case perhaps much less than one mile). The Batfish crew speculated that this was an air-warning radar (which like Batfish's own earlier radar was non-directional and ignored surface contacts, it simply warned of any aircraft in the vicinity). None of the radars listed in this article would seem to fit this description and there is no mention of any sub deployed systems for the IJN. Can someone with any knowledge of this subject please contribute any information on sub-based IJN radars?Pmarshal (talk) 17:25, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to have to report that the hyperlink to Reference 2 (Martin Favorite, Japanese Radar Of World War II) currently redirects to a casino website. NOT what we need!RaynesParkGuy (talk) 11:58, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
