Photos[edit]

  • Photos should be limited to the most famous, most well known people. They should be limited in the number, each profession, varity of schools, gender, etc. For example, J. Farmar is still fairly young, played briefly in the NBA then went overseas before coming back to the Lakers, hardly the most famous Lakers or in sports came out of LAUSD. You've cited no policy, guideline, or essay supporting your arbitrary restrictions. This is a list of people which by local consensus, has the following evident inclusion criteria: notable people who have bluelinked articles with sufficient sources demonstrating notability, and citation supporting their status per the title of this article. The ongoing consensus criteria evidently include freely licensed images of such people, where possible. Your opinion is certainly yours to have, but it holds no water against the mass of ongoing consensus, (or policy, guideline or essay) or the positions of (now) two established editors.
I see that you've made many edits to the article, but you do not, and cannot, own it.
All that said, I would go along with reducing the thumbnail sizes to 100px or less - they're links after all. --Lexein (talk) 02:14, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring; image[edit]

An editor has now twice, most recently without any edit summary, deleted the image of a person on this list. Asserting they are not sufficiently notable. No such requirement exists -- if they belong on the list, it is fine to have an image of them. Also, the person in question is an NBA player of many years, and was a star player in the district -- the assertion that he is not sufficiently notable is flawed. Please don't edit war, especially without guideline support, based on questionable personal views.--Epeefleche (talk) 20:43, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The editor asserts that "Photos should be limited to the most famous, most well known people."
First of all, in truth the approach at wp is that a person belongs on the list, and the image is of sufficient quality, the image is appropriate. Such is the case here.
Second, this is an NBA player. The very highest level of professional basketball. And he was also a Euroleague player -- the same, in Europe.
Third--he first gained RS coverage for his playing basketball while at a school in this district. Most of the images in this list are of people who were not even covered by RSs while they were in school in this district.
While in this district, as his article tells you, at Taft High School, Farmar scored a record 54 points in a single game. As a senior, he led his school to the school's first Los Angeles City title. Farmar was named the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year, LA City Co-Player of the Year, and California Interscholastic Federation Los Angeles City Section High School Player of the Year. He earned CalHi Sports All-State honors. Additionally, he was selected to play in the McDonald's High School All American game.
What did the people whose images you input -- or didn't delete -- do while there were students in this district, that was covered by RSs?
Fourth, as to Farmar being "fairly young" -- well, that's not the case, for a professional basketball player. Not that it would matter. He is highly notable. Has over 673,000 ghits. Far more than, say, "Lee Baca," with 186,000, whose image you DO like. I don't know what your POV is all about, but your assertions are false and your application of your POV criteria is not at all even-handed.
Fifth, you assert that the images should be limited in the variety of schools, gender, etc, -- but then you delete the only image of a Black person in the series of images in the article?
He doesn't have to be "the most famous" to have his image here. He belongs on the list. His image belongs. Please stop edit-warring to delete it. And please stop making up rules, and saying them as though they are wp rules.--Epeefleche (talk) 21:00, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I concur with Epeefleche's points, and support inclusion of the deleted Farmar image. I've spelled out my position above. @Ucla90024, you have a long enough edit history to know better: you can't beat N. --Lexein (talk) 02:17, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
