Premature[edit]

Isn't it a bit early to have this? The series has only been going for one episode. H.G. 10:12, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do agree but.. .[edit]

As the creator of the characters page, i will agree that it is early, but we might aswell include the characters we do know, and if we don't just research them like i did. I promise you, its not an easy task. It took me a whole day to complete and i was EXHAUSTED! Goku1st (talk) 20:59, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Morgana[edit]

...Surely Morgana is Uther's ward and not daughter? And therefore not actually related to Arthur? Otherwise the relationship between Arthur and her would be a bit odd... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.97.207.114 (talk) 19:45, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I don't believe this series is using the idea that Morgana is Arthur's half-sister and they share Uther as a father. If she was, Uther would call her his daughter rather than his ward. Similarly, I don't think there's any suggestion that she's a sorceror yet. Maybe someone should be bold and change it. 86.142.103.226 (talk) 21:24, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What's a ward? Tried looking for it in Wikipedia. None pertains to a person. Unless a ward is not a person? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.201.168.178 (talk) 18:35, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What is the point of the speculative sentence on series 5? 86.144.25.248 (talk) 20:03, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you are right, to me it is a quite unencyclopedic sentence, which I removed. Ochristi (talk) 14:51, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use image removal[edit]

Disputes not withstanding, the indiscriminate use of fair use images in list articles such as this one is not supported. For the supporting policy, see WP:NFCC. For supporting guideline, see Wikipedia:NFC#Non-free_image_use_in_list_articles. See similar discussion at Talk:Supporting_Harry_Potter_characters#Overuse_of_fair_use_images and Talk:List_of_James_Bond_henchmen_in_Die_Another_Day#Fair_use_image_removal (and observe that fair use images remain removed or tightly limited on those two articles). --Hammersoft (talk) 16:19, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Links to Arthurian Legend[edit]

Is there any way someone could do a little research to determine what characters are actually associated with characters in Arthurian Legend? For instance, aside from the obvious cast, are any of the more minor characters actually well-known characters in the original stories? 70.112.189.147 (talk) 03:20, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Myror's death[edit]

I've just edited the entry on Myror. It previously stated that Merlin used magic to drive the blade back into his body, killing him, at the end of s2 ep2. However, watching it closely on iPlayer makes it look more like Merlin used magic just to cut some kind of strap on Myror's armour or saddle, in order to give Arthur a chance; the moment can be found at 37:54, could someone else have a look as I'm not certain exactly what happens. Thanks! 193.61.234.13 (talk) 09:45, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Justice for Sir Leon![edit]

Since he's been bumped up to a more prominent, recurring role, shouldn't he have a paragraph? I remember that the Secrets and Magic companion show did a short feature on him - it's probably on youtube - and there's probably enough info to warrant an entry by now... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.124.88.196 (talk) 15:28, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Split proposal[edit]

This page is getting quite large and with the new series just started, will become too large. It is time to create seperate articles for the lead characters, move the information to there and find proper sources for the information. See Wikipedia:Splitting for guidelines. --Triwbe (talk) 08:06, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

With no objections I will start the split just after tonights episode.--Triwbe (talk) 16:34, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Though, I think Arthur should get his own article, I'm a bit hesitant on the others, though I have no real objections. Harry Blue5 (talk) 21:09, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, only the main characters would be split. --Triwbe (talk) 07:19, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Went ahead and did Arthur, but like I said, I'm not sure the others really deserve an article. And by the others, I mean Gwen, Morgana, Gaius, etc.. Harry Blue5 (talk) 08:17, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Morgause's Parents[edit]

It was recently learned that she has a half sister, Morgause, who was smuggled out of Camelot by Gaius at her birth, and it was revealed by Gaius that she is the daughter of Gorlois. The identity of her mother remains unknown.

We can't know Gorlois is Morgause's father for sure, just from the crest she wore-- and in fact it seems like its the other way around, from recent events. Helen (I believe is her name?), Gorlois' wife, seems to be the shared parent of Morgana and Morgause.

Spoilers for 3x05, if you haven't seen:

If Morgana and Morgause share a father, why did Morgana continue to call Morgause 'sister' after revealing to Morgause that Uther was her father? They would be entirely unrelated if Gorlois was not Morgana's father. And you would think the subject would have come up.

Also, the way Morgause mentioned that the healing bracelet she gave Morgana was 'a gift from her mother' seems to imply more that they share a mother and not a father. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.180.128.222 (talk) 01:49, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tristan De Bois[edit]

I distinctly remember the show saying that Tristan De Bois was Uther's father-in-law. Can somebody please verify this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephen C Wells (talkcontribs) 21:12, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agravaine[edit]

Could Wikia be completely wrong about him? It sheds more light on his family (though I can't find references for that) and underlines him being related both with Arthur and Morgana. --Elitre (talk) 18:21, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, as I understood the relations, he must be Morgana’s sort of step-uncle, as Morgana is the daughter of Vivienne and Arthur the son of Ygraine who was sister of Agravaine. Ochristi (talk) 23:50, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Guinevere or Morgana[edit]

Regarding the line in the article: "At the beginning of the series he had a small crush on (Guinevere/Morgana) which eventually developed into a friendship." The correct subject is Guinevere not Morgana. Whether or not there was ever a time in the story when Merlin was attracted to Morgana is not the issue. The issue is whether he was ever friends with Morgana. Changing Guinevere to Morgana makes the statement untrue. If an editor finds it necessary to discuss whether Merlin was ever attracted to Morgana, a new sentence should be added. — Bill W. (Talk) (Contrib)  –  8 May 2024, 05:55 (UTC)

Uther[edit]

The paragraph about Uther seems to not be written from a neutral point of view. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.77.183.241 (talk) 01:17, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing attention to this. I have rewritten the paragraph to the best of my recollection, however I'm a bit rusty on the series in general. If I have missed anything major (which is likely) please feel free to add it in. Trut-h-urts man (talk) 01:40, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

copypaste[edit]

Hello, this article was flagged to contain potential copypaste violation(s) from a forum on tv.com, which produces several matches with the current version of the article. However the forum posts date back to February 2010 and I arbitrarily picked revision 333608643 of this article dated 2009-12-23T19:01:30 hence before the publication of those forum entries, still the matches show up. I think the copying might have been the other way round. I hope I did not miss anything, so I suggest to remove the flag. Ochristi (talk) 14:38, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agravaine's Death[edit]

In the currently published text, the section on "Merlin" describes his killing Agravaine as being in "cold blood". Seeing as Agravaine was bearing weapons against him at the time, I'm not entirely sure that this is an accurate assessment. There's no doubt that Merlin made the decision to kill Agravaine, but "cold blood" is really a phrase that's generally reserved for situations that lack the context Merlin had in this case, i.e. an imminent threat to his life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.188.101.215 (talk) 06:24, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hunith - Caroline Faber[edit]

The actress that plays Hunith, Merlin's mother is Caroline Faber, born 1954.12.07, not Lady Caroline Faber, born 1923 (that would be making her 90 years old!), so I removed the link, as there's no wiki page for the actress. Organizing Article[edit]

Although this article does a good job of listing the characters in Merlin, it does seem be lacking in regard to how it's organized, namely the following two points:

1. The main characters (Merlin, Arthur, Gaius, etc...) are all embedded with characters who only in one episode, might be best to move the main characters to the start of the article, and then the all the minor characters appear below.

2. As stated in the first point, many of these characters appear in one epsiode and are portrayed by guest actors, and so for these characters it might be good to add which episodes they appear in.

Thought I stat this here, and I may organize the page in accordance with what I've said.
