I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of NYU Polytechnic Institute people's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 00:11, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

merge or split[edit]

Either this should be split from the main university page, or the small number of additional people merged into the relevant sections. In either case, it needs editing. The table format is inappropriate, and so is the paragraph forma; we do this sort of material as lists. . See my comment at the main article. DGG ( talk ) 20:49, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So far I trimmed the overkill intro that is unusual for lists on Wikipedia. I think also trimming down the alumni/faculty section on the NYU Poly article and including the bulk of the information here would be more appropriate. The reason I requested a speedy delete is because this article seemed to be a blatant copy-paste of the NYU Poly article. -- Marco Guzman, Jr  Talk  21:15, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored some of the material. As for the introduction, it is usual to give context for such a list. I trimmed a great deal of it, but not all; I may do more, but I do not want to act precipitously. . As for the alumni paragraphs, I've left it in there in order to be listified in case all of it is not on the list already. Again, i like to act carefully in deleting material. I'll deal with removing the duplications tomorrow. DGG ( talk ) 01:46, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This looks like an end run for a sockpuppet to get the version of the NYU-Poly article they want on Wikipedia (along with List of NYU-Poly research centers). For example, compare the first sentence of this article and the parent article. I'm not sure why we are allowing someone to create an article who is not even supposed to be editing Wikipedia (the same person created this article under a different sockpuppet account). 72Dino (talk) 02:09, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 8 April 2013[edit]

Error: Carl Wunsch is *not* an alumnus. All degrees are from MIT. Apparently confused with Joseph W. Wunsch who is an alum. Srotor (talk) 23:57, 8 April 2013 (UTC)  Done Thanks for pointing that out. Do you have a source that we can use to add Joseph?-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 00:04, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 1 January 2014[edit]

Change the article name to "NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering people" per the college's new name and add the following to the respective lists. Thanks.--Odinzonal (talk) 00:42, 2 January 2014 (UTC) Not done: RM in progress below. --Mdann52talk to me! 14:56, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Add references to each of them and I will be happy to add them. Bahooka (talk) 00:43, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Each has their own article and the references are on the articles.--Odinzonal (talk) 00:46, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, on the ones I looked at there are no references regarding this school at their articles, either. It helpful to have them here, too. Bahooka (talk) 00:47, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I see references regarding this school at most of their articles. Could you point out the ones you mentioned?--Odinzonal (talk) 00:51, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Neither of the first two (Arnold and Ferri) had inline references supporting a connection to the school. I will go ahead and leave this discussion. Perhaps an editor not as concerned with the WP:Verifiability policy will take care of this for you. Good luck, Bahooka (talk) 01:07, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

      Thanks anyways.--Odinzonal (talk) 01:24, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My bad, Ferri is already on the list.--Odinzonal (talk) 01:42, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This appears to be an uncontontroversial technical move impeded by protections imposed after some sockpuppet activity. --- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 02:52, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

List of NYU Polytechnic Institute peopleList of NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering people – As of 1 January 2014, the school has merged and has a new name. See: New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering#Name. The name that this article should be moved to has been protected (I'm not sure of the reasons behind that) but this article really needs to reflect the new name of the school. Comment: The reason the new name is protected is because a serial sockmaster kept causing trouble there. Jackmcbarn (talk) 00:19, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
